Default I am finally Satisfied with this game

After a long time of following every talented modders little tweaks and playing all of the major mods, I have to say I am finally at a level where I do not feel like tweaking the game any further and will just be playing it for a while .

I have to say thanks to all those persons whom, in one way or another have stood by this game and made moves to improve it.

GWX has got the game to how I wanted it, Sh3 commander has added that extra bit on top.

Over the past two weeks, I have been testing if my current setup will set a decent challenge and fit into my own semi realistic yet game viewpoints and it has not failed me.

All not possible without any of the major mod teams and those talented programmers whom gave us tools like timetraveler etc.

Not only that, but those whom spend hours creating new ships, skins, ai subs, rocket planes and all those hundreds more experimental mods.

I think its time you all gave yourselves a pat on the back and that even goes for those persons whom just by discussion and comments help to steer and encourage the modders to achieve the (at one time) impossible

Now I am off to join WAW and have a ball over the next few months

THANK YOU ALL

Grats. This does mark a milestone indeed. The urge to tweak this game is compulsive. (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102761 ) I think im about done with modding, tweaking, fine tuning myself, although i may include your upgraded special effects zones.cfg for GWX at some point

Right now im happily in my med career game, and the urge to tweak, mod, fine tune, has become less. I'd do the WoW thing to, but honestly im a bit too burnt on patrol logs at the moment.

I'm curious about one thing (this is out to all the major mod'ers that really fixed this game up). With all the work you guys/gals have done to fix all the bugs in the game and to tweak it, has UBI, or anyone involved in the creation of SH3 ever dropped an email to say thanks or even offer up a job working on the next project? After all, if it hadn't been for you people (major and minor mod'ers all), I think this game would have sunk a long time ago (pun intended) because of it's problems.

So, from me to you, I also send a thanks and want you to know that all your work and effort really is appreciated.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, no one from UBI has ever thanked these guys.

It is kind of like owning a railway diarama, (neveer call it a trainset to an enthusiast), There is always something else to do or change or tweak and even when you finish it a play for a while the urge to change things creeps up on you and away you go.

Not directly but they did so indirectly...

They did mention the modders in an interview with Neal about SH4..

Part of the Interview here...

Subsim: There has been a tremendous amount of mod activity in the Subsim forums. Which mods have given the dev team ideas to improve and refine SH4? Any mods that the dev team would like to adopt?

SH4 Dev Team: The dev team has been in contact with select members of the subsim community and provided feedback and/or advice regarding certain mods. We feel the community has done a great deal to improve the world of the game and adjust the game play to suit certain realism-oriented players. We appreciate all effort put into our game and are especially looking at the interface mods to see what the players felt was needed and missing in the game.

Well, then I happily stand corrected. That was nice of them to mention the modders.

I think the select members were DTB. He's had/has this contact at ubi (of which he's quite proud of and has openly said, puffing his chest out, "i know the dev's"), and managed to score some of the development tools from them, of which he won't share with anyone. Orginally his ego just couldnt help let out hints of it, and indirectly flaunted it infront of our noses. Nowday's he denies it and just calls them, "NYGM tools".

I think its pretty cool that the GWX project, by and large as surpassed NYGM, without any dev team help.

What ever happened to DTB anyhow?
He seems to have jumped ship on the NYGM mod when the announcement that GWX was coming close to completion. His last post was over a month ago on 11-6-06.
Almost ironic that he seems to have done the same thing that the devs did with SH3...abandoned the work and leave it to others to work on and patch.Especially after all his boasting of having their help.

And I do agree that the GWX mod has far surpassed the NYGM mod in all ways. They deserve to be commended for doing what they did.And doing so without the help of any of the devs or their tools.

I don't agree.. both mods have their strong and weak points and I enjoy playing both. Why only drink half of the bottle ?

Well...lets just say I will not touch a mod that was made by Der Teddy Bar.

After what he pulled with one particular thread and his overall attitude to any other modders here and his self rightous chest thumping I lost all interest in anything he made.I wont say anymore than that, but you had to have been there to understand.

Guys, please don't start another GW/NYGM flame war!
Despite his rough personality DTB and his group had made a big contribution to the modding comunity.
