Default Credit for Ships Sunk

I'm not getting credit for some ships sunk. I sank 12 vessels and only got credit for 8. Has anyone else had this happen? Below is a short story of the battle in which this occurred.
I just finished my 4th patrol with SH3/1.4b/GWX loaded. I left out of Brest, headed for section CF. I came across a convoy sailing WSW.
The convoy must have been attacked earlier, because several ships were burning and three of the escorts were also on fire. The weather was calm sea with 4KT wind. I did an end run with decks awash and entered the convoy from the rear.
I sunk the nearest escort and got credit. the other two escorts came after me and I eventually sank them as well and received credit.
To make a long story short, I sank a total of 12 ships. 3 warships and 9 freighters.
I used all my torps and sank wounded ships with the deck gun. I could have sank a couple more small ships with the deck gun but I ran out of ammo for it as well. I got out of the battle with one dead crewman and 66 percent hull integrity.

Does anyone know of a reason why credit wasn't given for all ships sunk?

Were some of the "victories" neutrals? They do sail in mixed convoys sometimes.

It may depend on getting the 'she's going down' message from the crew. I have found in the past I have not been credited when not getting that.

Playing patched vanilla....

That happens to me sometimes as well.. Currently I'm in the middle of a 28 merchant/tanker convoy with escorts coming in for me .. One cargo I had torpedoed was taking gun fire from an escort (I was using it as a shield) and when I finally dispatched the escort & sunk the C2 with my deck gun, I did not get the credit when it went under..

Good Luck...

:rotfl: Corsair, I think you have the answer! Bernard is the Yeoman responsible for printing the boats log reports. Damn I should have kept him in the bilge.

Yup, that's happened to me in stock SHIII too.

I also got this in GWX, after loading a save, for any ship sunk, I didn;t got the credit as that Bernard didn't cry "She's going down". This tells me NOT to load a save, but do every stuff at one time

In TGW1.1a and NYGM this can be a problem because of sometimes long sinking times.

You have to be within visual or sound contact with the sinking ship when the message "She's going down" is seen to get renown. If you drop out of contact with the ship before it sinks, you get nothing.

There is also a stock bug that sometimes happens when you save just before a ship goes down and reload that save.

To avoid this bug save before you shoot and only after you see the above message.

Bernard should never be given any position of responsibility except swimming ahead of your boat to check for mines. Always make sure he is +500m ahead when he blows them up though!:rotfl:

Stay close-by even submerged if necessary and wait for the "She's going down" message....the stock bug element of it you'll just have to take on the chin

Also, you may not credit fo much larger ships in shallow waters. For example a Passenger Liner that you sink is still showing a good portion of its hull out of water. I used to get this a lot with these ships in the shallows near land - very frustrating after you have pumped two or four fish into it and you don't get the credit

or if it's bad weather and she sinks out of range of you the sunk icon turns grey and no credit.
