Photoshop Help Required

I have used a template in Photoshop to create a DVD/CD Cover and I have an issue saving the image for upload at the correct dimensions.

This is what I have - CD cover @ 4.75 x 4.75 in with 300dpi. This gives me an image with a resolution of around 3000 x 3000 pixels.

There is no problem printing from PS as the dimensions in Inches is the default print size. The problem comes when I export the image as a JPEG ready for upload and sharing. It seems the pixel resolution becomes the default size settings. This will give the end users problems in printing at the correct size for their CD cases.

I, can get round this as my printer allows me to 'print at the original size' which defaults back to the size set in Inches but I don't think everyone has this option.

Is there any way to ensure that the end user will d/l or save the uploaded image at the correct size so that they will not have to do anything other than print it?

The last thing a want to do is make it a difficult thing for them to obtain.

FYI - I would like to keep the dpi resolution if possible as there is a lot going on and this might be lost if the quality is reduced.

Thanks in advance

Dan

I am pretty sure that the only way to make sure the end user will print it at the proper size is if they use PSP or Photoshop. (And I think you might even have to send it to them as a psd.) The only way to get around it would be to change the dpi to 72 and adjust the sizing by pixels/inches. I am only a medium range photoshopper though so someone more knowledgable could swing by and prove me wrong.

Thanks for your suggestions

:hmm: I wonder if there might be other formats that will preserve the dimensions layer?

Obviously, not everyone has access to PS so I'll need a universal format.

It's quite important to get this done as there will be quite a few people d/l something soon and I wanted to have a finished presentation for them.

I know this isn't a great fix, but another possibility is to include simple instructions on how to properly resize the image in paint if they don't have PS or PSP. All I can think of.
