Default Tell me about GWX...

People keep talking it up so much on the forum its sounding like just all hype. So it just makes the game harder? That's it? Any part of increased realism work in the player's favor? Its just been kind of annoying, everytime someome mentions some thread somebody chimes in with 'just wait till GWX, it won't be like that anymore'.

But I haven't heard any specific info on the features GWX will offer. How will it make SHIII more fun to play?

It's called "marketing" The details have been kept secret until now...
No kidding it's out soon, just have a go, read the doc and give it a try. If you don't like it, then go back to some other version of your choice.
Until now all supermods (RuB, IuB, NYGM, GW 1.1...) have gone towards giving more reality and immersion, not more "fun".
Some people like the "real thing", others play just for the fun, important is that you find what suits you.

Latest news can be found here.....
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/TGW/news.html

Also have trawl though the mods section, there is plenty of info regarding GWX.

Naturally, due to recent happenings, the GWX dev's are a little 'cagey' with specifics. However, as a beta tester, I can assure you that GWX is indeed fun to play, after you have adapted your 'style'.

Well, the idea of doing patrols in unique places definitely sounds interesting. And it also appears that they added a lot more 'activity' in other parts of the world- I heard that in stock SHIII anything in the eastern hemisphere is pretty much dead but from the sounds of it they've livened things up in GWX.

Yep, that's what they say. I've heard a few things about it too... but you know... it may be just all hype.

Make sure you bring Dramamine.

What's Dramamine?
Dramamine is an anti-motion sickness drug. It helps lessen, or prevent, motion sickness and sea sickness.

What's Dramamine? [/quote]

Dramamine is for wussies and non-quals! Be a man and tie a garbage back to your belt loop "in case of emergency".

On manuevering watch out of Charleston, SC, we used to break out the cigars (before they banned smoking) and sardines while we were rocking and rolling on the surface, just for the added "atmosphere". It was often just enough to make the Nubs hurl.

I admit though, I was seasick once. I was a Nub (Non Useful Body) and it was my first underway. We were on the way out from Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Valejo, Ca. and it was unusually rough. I was "cranking", washing pots and pans in the galley, and watching that food and grease slosh back and forth, back and forth in the deep sink, the smell of the aux. diesel exhaust getting sucked down the bridge hatch, the nervousness on my first underway, ...next thing you know I was "praying to the stainless Gods"!
