Go to

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Submarine

and open up the boat folder of your choice

Open the cfg file

Look for
[Properties]
PeriscopeDepth=12;meters
SnorkelDepth=12;meters
CrashDepth=70;meters
MaxDepth=200;meters
SurfaceDepth=8;meters

Change the SurfaceDepth to around 8 m as above and save

That means your boat can run at 8m depth and still be classed as surfaced

It should do as you will leave a smaller " footprint "
That is you will show less of a visible surface area and a lower silhouette

"Decks Awash" would be better if we had the option to run on electrics when surfaced. They usually did it that way; it's quieter and there's less chance of water washing into the intakes.

Yeah would be
You can run decks awash on electric but then the sub is techniacally submerged so no deck crew
All or nothing in this game

IIRC, Hemisent did extensive testing and found out that deck awash do indeed have an effect in detection ranges by the AI.

Default Run between 6 1/2m to 7m

Using GW, I run at 6 1/2 - 7m all the time, get decks awash without losing lookouts and without any change to the submarine files. Could not do this in the stock game.

would it be possible (I think it's not) to add another default position of the sub ?

example :

[Properties]
PeriscopeDepth=12;meters
SnorkelDepth=12;meters
CrashDepth=70;meters
MaxDepth=200;meters
DeckAwashDepth=8;meters
SurfaceDepth=5;meters

Other files should have to be modified:hmm:
