Default No credit for sinking

Well, I sneaked into Scapa Flow at night on Dec 10 1939 and sunk 3 vessels from a distance of 1000m or slightly more. Using TGW1.1a and it only gave me credit for 2 of them. On the nav map it shows the 3 ships I sunk. How come??? I do all that work and don't get the proper credits. On the way back to base now and I better get the renown for bring her home. Now I have to "duck" every ship that is spotted.

This is my third patrol using TGW1.1a and I'm not pleased with it's performance.

The ship I didn't get credit for was a tanker.

I have played over 50 missions using SH3 and ALWAYS got credit for every sinking.

I'll give it one more mission.

I don't know why it doesn't give you the credit, but wait until you dock to the home base and finish the mission. If it doesn't give it to you then we have a problem. Try to send a contact or patrol report. maby it will credit you then, although it shouldn't make any difference.

Are you sure all 3 sunk
Sometimes in port they sit on the bottom and arent classed as "killed"
Especially the bigger ones

Once put 5 fish into a BB in Loch Ewe and it sat on the bottom and was still " alive "

The tanker was in port? Did it sink all the way? Sometimes you are not credited if the ship does not sink all the way or to a certain point to allow credit. I have sunk vessels in port that hit the bottom but most of the top is still exposed. No credit given. It sucks but hey, thats life sometimes.

Like the guys have already said...if it's shallow water and she's a bigun...chances are the game doesn't recognise her as being sunk

Many a U-boat captain reported tonnage for ships that did not sink.

Worse is when you sink a large tanker in deep water and don't get credit for it. I was at 30m between Rockall and the North Channel. I'd alread sunk three merchants and the weather turned real nasty (heavy fog, winds at 15, heavy rain). Picked up a ship on hydraphones sailing northeast. Surfaced and ran at full speed to intercept which I did in short order. Fired a spread of 4 torps at close range, 3 hit and the ship just lit up. Quess what, no credit and I watched it sink.

It was a small tanker and it showed killed on the nav map. So why didn't I get the credit.

You know, something like that happened to me once, except I was clear in the Aegean Sea. I was going to go home after hunting around Greece with the kill of 3 T2 Tankers. Well, I got to going along, no problems, when I get on the South-West Coast of Spain. There she was: a Casablanca type carrier. I slammed 4 torpedoes into her bow ALL of which hit and were confirmed by the camera, and then, the sinking commenced. It took I'd say about 5 minutes to completely sink to the bottom. Odd fact of it was that it wasn't confirmed even though I took the camera and observed it's grave on the ocean floor. Really ticked me off because I used T-V's which are pretty darn expensive.

It's a SH3 bug. You're lucky that you haven't encountered this earlier. I've had this problem several times. On two occasions, I had saved the game before sighting the ship in question, so I was able to test whether I would receive credit for the ship if I sank it using my deck gun instead of torpedoes. I also tried different approaches, different torpedoes, and anything else I could think of at the time. The end result was the same: The ship sank, but I never received credit for it. I've seen this with C3 Cargo ships and T3 Tankers thus far. It has happened to me at least four times that I can recall.

For reference, I'm using NYGM 2.2 and I'm still having the same problem. Just the other night, in fact - I snuck into a convoy and sank seven ships, but only received credit for six. The "one that got away" was a C3 Cargo.

I sure hope they fix this bug in the next SH3 patch. It's very annoying.

I can;t say I've had probs with TGW1.1a but I have struck this one using modded vanilla a few times. RUB, IUB, etc have seen this happen not frequently but enough to annoy a little bit. I usually found going to an earlier save and sinking the buggers again did the trick.

You'd be credited if you split the bulkhead into two , shallow waters or not

I think I have a save point after I sunk the fitst two ships, but I'm wondering if it's worth it to go back in there, sink it again, and manage to stay out the the DD's way and get back out safely. Probably not. Just chook it up to Bernard Fault.
