I can honestly say that I have never ever owned a consol. I'm curious as to how people rate the new PS3 thingy. :hmm:

Nope, not yet. But I have to in some point. I´ve been a fan of the Metal Gear Solid-series since it was first released on the 8bit nintendo, so the next MGS will be on PS3.

Extremely unlikely. I've got one console in my house - an old refurbished GameCube that we got for the kids. I'm not shelling out $500 (as if!) when I've got tons of great PC games I've never gotten into. Basically, these things sound like general updates of their older versions - what's really the point of spending so much for just a better version of something you already have? Now, if these things had anything like the VR capabilities that computer geeks promised us in 1992(!) I might think twice.

The other half wants a PS2 with a 'Spyro the Dragon' game for christmas.
*sigh*

I have tried to get her to play 'propper' games (SHIII) on her pc over the LAN, but as ever the seeds always fall on stony ground

PS3 will soon be out of date as those boffins work on PS4.

You already have half the battle covered - just getting her to play games. If you let her play, she will eventually graduate to something more complex.
