Default Manual targeting in Torpedo Exam

I have read all there is about manual maneuvering targeting, and seen all the videos about it. I finally tried it myself on the torp exam, after several hours following one of the ships I managed to launch 2 torps in 90degree angle, one of them hit. But then suddenly I didn't know what to do to get the calculations etc right again.

What do you guys do when you hit and they continue, do you travel again and settle at 90degrees or do you chance it and fire a couple after turning the uboat in the ships direction?

Furthermore. How the heck is it possible to find the rest of the ships after intercepted and sinking one ship, if you go back the rest of the ships has vanished without a trace. Have anybody managed to torp exam doing manual targeting and maneuvring.

Default Exam

I have only been able to pass the exam with manual targeting in Vanilla SHIII; When I try it with any of the mods, I can usually only get one ship, if any.

I used an "original" SHIII, with just minor mods.

What is vanilla SHIII, is that the original or is it a type of mod?

It is possible both with auto and manual targeting if you, hit the small tanker first without surfacing, just go straight to the attack scope. Then cross the bows of the the stionary ship and catch the largest freighter (surface whilst the shots on the tanker are running). After that the coastal freighter heading roughly NW, then the same heading roughly SW and back to the centre for the 'stationary' freighter. A trick target which moves when the torpedos are closing in, as you will have probably found. Actualy though, even with the GW mods installed I found the behaviour of the ships in the academy level nothing like the ones you meet out on a real patrol. The only use I found in it was to practice the TDC. I think you can fiddle the academy level results anyhow in one of the config files, but I don't know which one.

Probably because the ships in the tutorial are on your side (same for the planes which is why they dont try to rip you a new one).
