Default Crash to desktop at start

With both fresh installs and patched up version of the game I can't get past the first intro video without crashing to desktop.

I have a 2.4 Ghz p4, radon 9800xt and 1Gb of ram running windows XP.

Can anyone help?

First of all, Hi!

Then, what fresh installs? Did you install the game two times? Did you use any mods or install any patches! All this info can help us. When your game crashed to desktop (CTD) did Windows tell you what's wrong?

From the look of your configuration I find no problems!

Sorry hi! (how rude of me!)

What i mean is that the loading fails on startup and i have tried it with both patched and unpatched versions.

Inbetween each install i have fully uninstaled the game, stripped the registry of any remains and rebooted my system.

Still can't get the game to work.

Default ESC

Hi,
Try this .. as soon as the music starts, press ESC and see if the Intro screen appears. The intro screen is a load page that has a status bar at the bottom of it; let it run it's course then you should get a black screen with 'initializing' on it .. if this 'hangs' then try this .. press 'ESC' three times [hold the last press down longer til you see a picture emerging then let go].

Thanks for the reply Munson, but unfortunately hitting esc at any point during the intro video brings about a crash.

Specifically these crashes occur at the end of the UBISOFT video, or at any point where I try click, hitting esc etc, to skip forwards.

Simply delete the two intro videos, they are in data\movies\intro.

Hello frenzy

I had a similar problem and deleting one or both of the intro videos solved it for me. I ended up just deleting the UBISOFT one and kept the main intro and SH3 then started ok. Give this a try and see what happens.
