Default Few thoughts about flotillas.

Historical fact: New boats started their first patrol from German ports, without any exeptions. They left training flotilla and sailed to the front. After first mission the boat made her way back to another (front) base.
So, I think it would be great to have one training flotilla into the game. Then you could, for example:

1. Start your career mid 1941, based in training flotilla.
2. Get your first orders and sail to the front.
3. Choose the flotilla and base you want to "join in" and after your patrol, sail near the new base.
4. Teleport, when near the new base. You would be "docked in" training flotilla.
5. Request transfer to your new flotilla.
6. Start your second patrol from your new base.

Parameters for transfer should be changed of course, so you could get your transfer after one completed patrol.

Coments, please?

Transfer mechanics are hardcoded, however the qualfications or criteria to request a transfer is easily edited in the basic.cfg. The rest of what you describe is acutally fairly easy to do. However, you'll have to give up a flotilla to do it as the total number of flotilla "slots" is from all past research ive done, hardcoded. Unfortuantly i can't get into anymore detail then that.

Thanks Ducimus!

One easy way to do this could be editing the dates when some allready existing flotilla will move to France. This means of course "loosing" one front flotilla then... Dunno. Have to think about this.

Still, if it could be made to work it's a fun idea.

It's acutally a little bit more robust then that. Your ONLY limitation is you can't have any more then err, i think it's six flotilla slots at any one time. How those slots are defined, and where you place them in the game world is entirely up to you.

I'd really love to get into more detail. There are few mods i can claim "intellectual rights" to, and flotilla/base rearragement is one of them, ive always been a little proud that i was able to figure it out before. . Im the only one who's originally put in the research and effort to do it. Unfortunatly, i can't really discuss it in detail until GWX goes live. My "best bits" as it were are sort of proprietary to GWX now, and if i went into detail on it, it would upset some people. Suffice to say, i have not made it a secret on how to do what you want to do in the past. There's acutally THREE public examples of how to do what you want to do.

One of which is on UBRS, called "Monsun boats", that is misplaced in the skins catagory of all places, the other, if you search the forum, is a thread by me called, "La Rochelle anyone?", and the third example is the 3rd flotilla mod found in the documentation directory of NYGM2.2. Although DTB obstinatly refuses to cite his sources on that particular mod, it is infact, a touched up version of my orginal work found in the "la rochelle anyone?" thread. The fact that this bit of plagurism is overlooked, has always burnt my biscuits. Go go sub sim double standards. Anyway, if your serious about it, just go back over the files ive already published, its really not that hard.
