The Galactic republic wasn't even fully galactic, let alone intergalactic. It spanned roughly 2/3 of the galaxy regarding the lore you can google up.
Same for the Empire.

Bad review that is.

Unless some of the newer material or the movies reference the size of the Republic, that information has been tossed out of the window along with the rest of the EU. As for Episode VII's Republic, the movie gives so little information about it that it might be made up of a single star system for all we know.

Well, there are still unknown regions in the new canon, so there's no way that the Republic was ever fully galactic.

I guess it's likely that the scale of the Republic is the same as it used to be. I'll admit that, with the exception of Episode VII itself, I have little knowledge of the new continuity, and the movie didn't quite make me interested in reading more into it.

I read somewhere that there are many wrinkles in the space-time continuum; I just seen 'em

40 Unforgivable Plot Holes in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Only 40?

Quote:
3. Kylo Ren, a powerful Force-user, fights a light saber duel with an ex-janitor who has never held a light saber and yet (a) never uses the Force on his opponent, though doing so would have ended the duel immediately, and (b) barely wins the fight, suggesting that he is simultaneously one of the least strategic wielders of the Force the Dark Side has ever seen and, despite his training, absolutely terrible with a light saber.

Yeah, many of these occurred to me as I watched the film.

By reading some of the answers

I get this

Person A-I'm thinking about seeing the new Star Wars

Person B-Have you seen the other 6 in the series ?

Person A-Indeed I have, that's why I'm going to see it

Person B-Don't bother, Star Wars 7 contains clips from the first 6 movies, with about 10 minutes new made which is with some new cast.

Reminds me of the swastika-shaped Coronado Naval Amphibious Base in San Diego.

There are holes in the plot for sure , but the mental giant that wrote the Huff Articles realizes there are two more movies coming right .

Also it sounds like many more Star Wars Movies ( spin-offs ) are coming, so you can bet that Disney will have a bunch of side stuff that will be expanded in other movies not directly related to this trilogy. Similar to what they have been doing with the Superhero Comics.

Saw the movie. I liked it, but don't think it was great. No further comments until out of spoiler danger.
