The Petes come from Cruisers and Battleships with Scout Planes, and should not be "swarming" the way that they are. The next minor update hopefully will ameliorate that - hopefully. Thus far, preliminary tests have been good. But, they should also show as planes shot down, not ships sunk..
Hey pb

Where the heck did you ever pick up a $10 word like "ameliorate". I'm beginning to think you're working to hard again.

Gotta say I enjoy this mod immensely but definitely now that I have played alittle more and started to get used to it am looking forward to a little less plane action. The destroyers seem alittle too eager to fire their torpedoes even at the expense of hitting their own ships. so far all I have to my credit is one Kongo battleship. The only out of place thing I've seen is one of the battleships rocking port to starboard quite noticeably even though the other 7 or 8 ships cruised along. In GFO I was doing night surface attacks getting within 1000 yds of enemy destroyers without being detected. These guys can shoot out my periscope from that distance. So a surface attack is out of the question. Haven't come across any merchant convoys yet. Still your mod is awesome and perty dern cool

We gotta learn something new every day, so that's my contribution to society for the day... btw, that cost me $11.99, plus tax. No more $10 words...

Glad you like it! Surface attacks are not safe at all in the current state of the mod, but we do have our fingers crossed for the future on that. We have a tentative fix going through tests now for the recrementitious plane appearances ($15.99 + tax word, paying it forward... ), and a few other little tweaks...

Thanks S7rikeback!
Downloaded, compare the checksum value & it's a match!

Now if only my honey-do list were that easy.

OK, does this look about correct?:

They could have been anywhere out there in that big circle, traveling outbound on about a 115-120 course, the MuroranTraffic01 RGG in the 41a_Jap_HarborTraffic.mis file, which spawns every 160 hours (6 2/3 days) at a 100% rate, single file group on 500m centers, with a GENERIC tanker set to spawn at 100% (Group Leader), GENERIC Cargo set to spawn at 100%, GENERIC tanker set to spawn at 60%, GENERIC Cargo set to spawn at 50%, and a GENERIC Corvette set to spawn at a 30% rate. Their spacing was set to 500m, and they started in relatively shallow water... ?? I have now adjusted their route, increased their spacing (ya never know about them large tankers), bumped their speed up and eliminated that 300km "decision circle"...

Really amazing the new beta .. great job !! My first patrol with Tambor I followed a convoy , to draw intercept course .. i'm ready 1100yard in the night bit moon.. . ...ready for fire.. When Suddenly "event camera" opens ... one torpedo!I thought ... "what's up? I did not tell anyone about fire torpedo !!!" ... OMG .. torpedo was for me !! ..I do not even have time to try to react, an evasive maneuver ... nothing. I get hit and the Tambor is ungovernable ... lost all crew.. i'm really totally
Surprise.. Probably i left periscope so much long time outside...or so much time have ping with sonar and the escort ships have identified me.I only saw a ship turn towards me .. I did not worry ...(I was sure I had time to fire and then escape)... Instead... Sob!
terrible experience .. never happened before.

Yes, SURPRISE!! There are AI Torpedoes in the game now.

Most of the Destroyers have them....on both sides. Here's what the Ultimate v0.71
README has to say about them:

Quote:
12. Added AI Torpedoes to 82 of the warships of different nationalities that had them as weapons. They will fire at various intervals once a target has reached the range of 1400 yards. Each ship “class” will have varying numbers of torpedoes:

* Japanese Submarines will have a total of 24 torpedoes Bow facing
* Japanese Midget Sub will have a total of 4 Bow facing
* American and German subs will have 24 torpedoes per Bow; the same to the Stern.
* PT Boat and Schnellboat will have 8 total; 4 firing to Port, 4 firing to Starboard
* Specific Heavy Cruisers, Light Cruisers, Destroyers will have a total of 17 torpedoes per side

In-game the AI WILL NOT fire at a "friendly" unit, however with the fact that the sea can have a previously launched torpedo(s) in it, an occasional "friendly" may be hit from time to time. Much like the "circle runners" the sub can produce. The war zone is now a much more realistic and dangerous place!

FOTRS Team,

I started a new career in a porpoise class boat out of Pearl Harbor.

And these are the settings that I choose before starting a mission.

Everything normal here, no frozen gauges and when speed increases from telegraph, turns inputs from the helm, all gauges respond accordingly. When approximately 75 nm from the home port, air search radar is turned on and game is saved. Auto saves are deleted from save folder. Exit the game completely. I use Game Booster to help increase the frame rate when starting SH4. After starting the game, loaded last save and checked the control dials.

The depth gauge shows under the surface, which the boat is on top of surface, which the gauge isn't shown in this image. Hope this helps.

Larry

I never paid any attention to the Event Camera, and in fact, I usually turn it off, since it has a nasty habit of popping up on top of the torpedo targeting area - but now it sounds almost mandatory to have it enabled... especially since there is no "Incoming torpedo, Sir!" alert of any form other than that...

Excellent. Thanks for the report. We'll see how tweaking that group does for the next update...

I have trouble with "Volumetric fog" and "Vertical Sync" on my computer, but I don't think that would explain the gauges issue you have... - then again, stranger things happen in this game... We'll try to dig some into this Larrywb57, and see if I can re-create what you have - but you've gotten this with a Tambor and a Porpoise now?

@Larrywb57
Hi I probed more time with Tambor save load save, load more time.. In patrol... Never happened Gauges problems... I did this short video after my fifth save / load .. as you see everything works fine:

I ask.. You installed LAA?.. Your S.O 64 bit.. right?
You exit by the game often With the keys ALT + TAB or similar keys..win key ?.. (Italian keyboard different I don't know your keyboard )

@propbeanie..
I think since appearing "event camera" at the time of impact will be passed less than 10 seconds ... impossible to react (Maybe because I was only 1000 yards)

Yes, but most times, they have to hit your conn for the torps to explode, else they'll pass over you, so if you see the screen pop-up, crash dive, which does the ahead flank, and you might get missed by that one - of course though, you could well drive into the path of another two...

One thing I wonder though, you say it was dark, and they saw your scope, you're guessing, by the moonlight? That would be off a bit, I would think, but continuous scope up might contribute... As a basic necessity, CapnScurvy brought the torpedo firing range in to 1500 yards or less, else the ships / subs ran themselves out of torpedoes, so there's really not a lot of reaction time to them. If there was an actually way to get "AI_Aiming", we'd have it made, and could take their shooting range out further, allowing for an actual good reaction to them - if a person is paying attention... - I have a difficult time as it is, remembering about airplanes and bombs when cruising along at PD, lining up for a shot...

I hope you intend to put in an add-on to take the torp's out of the game.

War is hell and you're getting a taste of it! I've no intention to remove a historical part of warfare just because your having to encounter it for the first time in a game!
