Default CTD

Hi gentlemen.
I have a somewhat annoying and recurring CTD problem. I was wondering if anyone could assist me to clear it up?
Irrespective of whatever campaign that I am on, I receive a CTD for no apparent reason, approx well into the earlier stages of a campaign when approaching certain coastlines. Examples; approaching Scapa Flow approx 80 klm from Scapa Flow, additionally, same CTD when approaching English channel, no action involved in either stages. I have travelled from Keil via the canal route or via the Skagerrack route without any problems whatsoever.
I have put on recommended patches in order to cure the problem, without success.

A fair few of your mods i don't use or have never used, so best leave the full post mortem for others that hopefully will have more info, but will mention a bit last .........................

Check in your installed proggies for ' Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.4974'
If that's installed remove it from control panel/add/remove blah blah blah (add/remove, depending on OS) ..........................

Check that this SubFlags_0_0_8 is still working ok with newui's 7.5.0

Do you use the generic patcher and options file viewer from TDW ?
If so, check certain options are 'checked/ticked' the same eg : decks awash = enabled/true to match both patcher and options viewer

Best scenario, you have that c++ and it needs removing, other scenario i suspect is that if it is installed you have this causing ctd'sand maybe mod probs (even just sequencing) with mods i know nothing about or their sequencing

Wow Admiral. Some homework you have set me, however, most grateful for your comments. I will get started on this and, with your permission, report back in due course.
I never seem to know where to acquire the latest updated version of a mod, wish there was one point for these updates.
Reference 210153, I have used two of these CTD cures, "starshells" & "Zon files" No joy with them to date.
Sub Flags 008 appears to work fine with TDW Ui 7.50, two flags up and flying.
I use options file wiewer but have as yet to master the generic patcher.

Yeah sometimes it can be tricky checking/finding mods/updates

Also for a base mod with sequence ideas, check sobers mod list and also Sjizzle mod list

No end of lists on the forums, some are in the posters sigs

(in the lists above, some editing of Menu is required, and a new career required, just in case you want to use say Real u boat performance with the Sub sim/cfg)

I'm still happily adding mods as i go, but some of your mods with the above you'll get the idea of sequence

In reference to Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable, I have several of these blighters installed, ranging from 2005 x86 to x64 versions up to 2010 versions.
should all of these be deleted?

You can probably find the app installing a redistributable by looking for the app with the same install date, but there is no telling how many other apps depend on the same redistributable got installed later. The amount of time you spend on finding the dependency would most likely not worth the few megabytes you may save.

No do not uninstall any of them as other programs will not function, only delete "Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.4974" if you have that one. It is known to cause CTD with SH5. To see this number look to the right at version column beside each "Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable". Leave the rest, I hope this helps

What version of TDW's GFP are you using?

Is it the 164 9 file stand-alone patcher version?

Is it the older 7 file version in TDW's base mod?
