Default White Land

Something thats been annoying me for a while is white land.

Seems like all the land masses appear white/grey at distance, and the landmass doesnt really show detail unless I'm near it, or its night.
I know its probably a setting somewhere. Its not fog.
I get from a distance of say 10+ miles things should start to fade into the horizon, but when starting out in the waters off pearl I should see things like green grass and trees. Nope just white.

I compared my env.cfg and terrain.cfg to TMO's files and they are identical.

Anyone have an idea where to start to look?

If your video can do it:

which most systems these last few years should not have an issue with SH4 - even the onboard Intel graphics. The "Terrain Objects LOD Size" setting is how big of a window or buffer the "Terrain Object Density" uses. Those settings do help, but you still will be missing "detail" until you're in rather close. You'll only gain a few hundred yards. The left-hand column of tick boxes are not absolutely necessary, but the light shafts under water sure are cool... I use the Vertical Sync (in conjunction with antilag) to try to keep the game and computer tied together for a 30fps - no more, no less, which is what the game is built to for the "clock"...

btw, this is from the main menu, Options, Graphic Settings...

Thanks and yes I have all the extreme settings, on my gaming rig setup.
I spent half a day tuning the card as well specifically for SH4 using nVidiaProfileInspector.
1920x1080 60fps
No video issues, no lag, and no more TC issues late patrol.
I found the settings in Scene.dat to fix the terrain painting issue. See post above. It had to do with a messed up Horizon from Websters Clear Water mod.
I've changed so many files to make such a custom install, there is no more point in using JSMGE.
I'll just copy the directory and alter files manually to keep things all working together.
Maybe make a super mod for myself that just builds the entire DATA dir in case I ever want to try FOTRS which is massive and would take waaay too much time to incorporate what I have now with it.
