Default Operation Ten-Go

Operation Ten-Go, the Japaneses' last ditch effort to protect Okinawa with the Yamato started April 1st with the Yamato battlegroup leaving mainland Japan for the island.

It was a bust for them as they were intercepted in the East China Sea.

I'm currently trying to figure out if I can be part of that battlle.

I've been patiently parked SSE of Kagoshima where the battlegroup was intercepted by our CV fleet and sunk.
Its been 7 game days of playing hide and seek with various task groups and lots of convoys. Saving all torpedos for the group.

It was April 6th it was sunk, or at least found and then sunk.

Has anyone actually been able to intercept the battlegroup during this operation and engage the Yamato?

I want to make sure my efforts and location are not in vain, as I figured out the game will only spawn the battlegroup if I am in the vicinity. Thats based on my previous Battle of Leyte Gulf tries.

Any help in finding the right spot would help.

I haven't played that one, but have harvested the coordinates of several from the individual Quick Missions section of the game, such as Samar and Palawan.

Doesn't work for Midway for odd, laughable reasons though.

Near as I can tell, the Yamato leaving Bungo Suido is not in the Stock game. It looks like lurker has it in RSRDC. It is also "simulated" in FotRSU. We were not able to find a whole lot of location information, so it is just an attempt at being somewhat close. Since the ship is very difficult to sink in game (as it should be), it most likely just "disappears" north and west of where it actually sank. I don't know what information lurker may have used to build his representation. Building a "simulation" of this type is very difficult, since the game seldom cooperates with "realism"...

Thanks for info.
Indeed, in stock, the Yamato makes only two appearances according to campaign.mis
In:

BattleOfPhilippines.mis Oct 1944 (Which is Leyte Gulf)
and
BattleOfPhilippineSea.mis June 1944, Also known as the Allies invasion of Saipan.

Other than that, nada.

So its off to my tools to incorporate the RSRDC into what I have.
Thats gonna be fun to commingle with my setup but there seems to be enough stuff there worth the effort and since its April 1945 in my current career with no further cool stuff to do in the stock game, I'll be restarting my career as well.

Okay, that addresses my follow up question of where to find Yamatos other than west of Saipan and at Palawan/Samar. I've twice enountered one escorting a Taiho (yeah, "a" instead of "the" - don't go there) in a random TF but that was very likely in a GFO career. I would have loved to catch one at anchor.

If you have installed one of the super mods like TMO or RFB or FOTRS, you can go here and check if you can encounter the Yamato.
My situation is very stock in the missions regard, but is about to change.

Go to DATA\Campaigns\Campaign\

With your favorite content tools you want to inspect and find in the files the word BBYamato.
I use UltraFinder.

If you get hits, it will be from the mission with the battleship in it along with coordinates and time.

In stock I got Battle of Leyte Gulf (Northern fleet) Oct 1944, and Battle of Philippine Sea (US Invasion) June 1944.

I'll be spending the next few hours comparing and combining RSRDC with what I have.

RSRDC carefully merged into my setup.
Almost everything was taken as is except for the UpgradePacks.upc which was sort of a surprising.
The contents seemed to seriously render some upgrades useless or non-existent.

Anyway that was the only real challenge. The rest seemed a straight copy with no ill effects.
Will report back when I'm through a few patrols.

Off to start a war.
