I am sure the experts here will prolly say the same thing I know that your card is capable ,, but also windows is a smart ass thing saying that it should be running things this way etc .. I would say try differnet settings on your card first .. than see what you have running in the back round because Windows thinks you should be running them .. I had a comp with a cheaper card and running 40 fps threw out . I used a mod that allows FPS to stay at a good pace ,, but HS .. I forgot what it was in my mod soup that allowed this to happen .. .. I think that your issue is really the card settings at least it was mine when I ran SH5 ..

Ask around .. Maybe I gave you a little clue

Don't use 3d clouds
Shadow slider all way to left (so none at all)
Terrain objects and particles density move notches left
Don't use light shafts and ships caustic effects (caustics is included in several mods)

Get this d3d_antilag101 leave as-is and place the two items in game directory (eg : c:/ubisoft/silenthunter5/2 items from d3d_antilag101 here)

Ohh the AA slider have more to the left than right if that's possible

And stay away from heavy smoke mods etc

Hope that gets you started

If you're using FX_Update by TheDarkWraith, disable it. I just did. Huge improvement in any combat situation.

TDW's FXU is not only graphical eye candy...By doing so, you've dismissed whole range of very important game improvements and necessary fixes. I suggest you to check out FXU readme file ...

Absolutely.

FXU is a tremendous mod - and even the "eye candy" is more that simple immersion since it allows the KaLeun to visually assess the damage done to a target (important to know since they can now radio for help).

I wish I could use it, but it's just not an option on my machine. 5-10 second freezes on every explosion, 1 f.p.s. (or less) in harbours and around large convoys - and that's with most of Defiance's tips. It isn't for low-spec. computers like mine , but on my machine, the game runs as smooth as butter without it.

So for me, it's about playing a diminished version of SH5 V.S. not playing SH5 at all.

I see, you use laptop or ? What is you configuration?
If you like you can try my set of addons for TDW FXU22 which will decrease FPS intensity and improve game stability?

Thanks!

-AMD Athlon64 Dual Core @ 2ghz
-2GB Ram
-Nvidia GT240 Graphics Card (1ghz ram)
-Windows XP32 SP3

(I'm amazed it runs the game at all)

Are those addons FXU_0_0_22_Ship zon Files? (If so, I already tried them - they're part of Sobers list).
