Default U-997 1:72 scale - finished!!!

Ok,I posted some shots to the screenshot thread, but this 93 cm long giant is finished now (just needed to add some aging),so I thought to create the new thread where you could comment this VIIC/41 and by the way....Is there anybody else interested in U-boat modells?
Anyway....Here we go...!!!

Those are just the threads on u-boat models. I didn't link to any of the ones on US or Japanese boats, or other ships.

Thank you!
To Faamecanic: You have probably the second model in this scale and that is VIIC "Wolfpack" with simple conning tower, with one flak, but also with the deck gun.

Default U997

Great model and the camouflage-drawing is superb!
I'm a newbie here and also in modelling subs but I needed a
challeging hobby after my retirement from the Royal Dutch Marines and
since my greatest hobby diving on shipwrecks is.... makes logic eey
Last year I builded a typ VIIC the U552.
And now busy with also the U997 from Revell scale 1:72.
I noticed that the camouflage on the Revell was a little simple so I took
a little from your ideas and less from Revell .
We'll keep in touch and greetz .

Great build Swat and great pics.

Myself is more into building BB from around WW2.

I have been thinking about buildning a uboat, however I had some plan with it.

1 It must be motorized
2 It shall have the possibility to dive, not only throu speed, but also at o km/h
3 A little "spy" camera at the nose of the uboat- The snorkel or some wire would be the link between the camera and my "monitor"-wich I somehow have build together with the remote.

But it was only a dream.

I could offcourse bya Ready-to-run model, but none of them have the possibililty to dive at stand-stil and I had to take the model apart to build-in the camera.

Those what people are calling life raft canisters are actually where external reserves are.

Reserves for what? Not torpedoes, certainly. They were stored horizontally, and would be longer than the boat is tall if they tried to store them vertically.
