Dumb Question
Hi all,
When I look at a U-boat picture, it has a 'saw tooth' thing at the bow. What is that, and why was it on them. It is not like u-boats were ramming anytrhing Thanks, Ry |

I think it was used for cutting through sub nets.
And it's actually a very good question.

Yes, it's a net cutter. They started removing them later on, as they weren't effective.

I thought that it was because they were spending more time in the Atlantic, and less on coastlines but... There you go!
