No need to unistall the game. If you installed the mods you are currently using through Jone Soft's Generic Mod Enabler, simply disabling them is enough.

You can, but be careful: the probability to break something is high. Maybe ask in the relevant forum thread, if you want to add some extra mod which is not included into your mega mod of election.

You can enable/disable external camera as many times as you want. Many SH5 players, even the "hard-core" players, like having it enabled for taking screenies.

I've read that the TDW generic patcher does not support the steam version, it's a problem if i run the game without it?

Anyway... wow!

Hello again guys !

I'll bring discussion about neutral ships in allied convoys here in order to share some findings...

Please note that this is really significant gamebraking issue and it must be solved quickly one way or the other. SH is all about convoy engagements and if we must to turn our heads from other SH5 glitches that still remains, at least convoy attacks should be pure and bug free.
This is not only about players rating and renown because presence of neutral shipping in allied convoys will also cause all kind of strange AI reactions (like escorts been perfectly indifferent if neutral ship was sunk , only green/neutral ships will take evasive maneuvers if one of their neutral allies is hit while other red/allied ships will take no action at all ect ect...)

This is the very first convoy encountered in HT campaign, two days after campaign start . Note that several ships are "green" which means that they have neutral status (aka Side=0) while others are "red" (aka Side=1)


Green ships are: 4 Panama's and 1 Danish freighter. In the convoy are also present few other non British freighters from countries which were at that time neutral or axis/friendly (aka Side=2) which is OK. Those are Free France, Free Poland and free Greece...Here are few pictures.


I've noticed that Panama's merchants are very common in allied convoys but they are always green neutral. Reason for this may be in fact that "Free Panama" folder does not exist in Roster folder at all?!

Regarding Danish freighter...This is actually FreeDenmark ship which should be red/allied but because of EndDate=19400407, game engine confuses and assign her neutral/green status...

EndDate=19400407	; Operation Weserübung: Germany invades Denmark; a puppet government is issued
Good new is that DefSide.cfg file can be edited during campaign and changes are reflected instantly. For example, if I change FreeDenmark end date to 1944, Danish merchant will become "red" on next game loading...

Good news. If I got you correctly, neutral ships wrongly assigned to convoys only belong to some nations. Other nationalities are represented within convoys by their "free" counterparts.

That's an obvious oversight. A Free Panamian roster should be setup (that's easily done) and all the POanamian merchants within allied convoys should be converted into Free Panamians until when Panama as a whole becomes an enemy of Axis powers (Dec 7th 1941). After that date, there's no reason to set Free Panamian ships within convoys. "Regular" Panamian merchants can be used instead.

No, game cannot confuse Danish and FreeDanish rosters, because other than having similar names, gamewise they have nothing in common. There must be Danish ships (not FreeDanish) set to sail in campaign withing convoys after the annexation of Denmark by Nazi Germany. This is a triple oversight: because of the problems you have pointed above, because there was just one Danish merchant being sunk by an U-boat after Denmark's capitulation (that was the steamer Lily, sunk on 26 Apr 1940), and because, as far as I know, no Dansih ship was ever sunk within Allied convoys. I actually doubt that the neutral Denmark ever partecipated into the convoy system. There should be a few FreeDanish merchants (i.e. valid targets) in campaign, and they should be set to sail from/to British ports as solitary ships, or in small unescorted groups before Denmark becomes part of Germany.
When I set defsides.cfg I made a lot of research. Most of the Free Nation dates are set according to data on uboat attacks available from uboat.net. I have added short comments for each nation set in that file, giving explanation on why certain dates are chosen for switching sides, on the units that each nation should be assigned in its roster, and on their suggested usage in campaign. I could have made some mistakes in setting defsides.cfg, and in that case I will gladly admit the blunder, but in general I don't think tweaking again that file is a good idea. For most nations, making sure that my instructions are followed to the letter should be enough to avoid crazy encounters in game.

I fail to understand why there's so many regular Panamian freighters in allied Atlantic convoys even in first campaign (1939/1940) if you guys have set campaign to spawn FreePanama ships within allied convoys? Shouldn't they bee ignored by the game in this case?

It is obvious that you and Trev know much more about campaign files then I do and the purpose of my previous post is to help you guys to determent the cause of the problem but that's the best i can do I'm afraid, especially in upcoming period...

I was aware of neutral ships in convoys for years but I looked at it as feature and just recently I discovered that this is actually unprecedented and unseen bug in previous SH titles...

I'm looking forward hopefully for upcoming solution because It's going to be really hard for me to find inspiration for further work on SH5 while game continues to spawn those "green ships" in such legitimate targets as large allied convoys...I'm afraid that these kind of issues can really trow me back in SH3/4 world once again .
All seems kind of pointless if game's gonna penalize me if I sink "wrong" ship during convoy engagement...
