The entry I put in has a different time than others. My game time is 16:19. The new entry time should be 16:20. But instead, I got 17:20.

Hi Wolfcat
The difference in time is Nautical and GMT.
The game will always load showing Nautical time.
Stopwatch time is always GMT.
Ships Journal and Message Box are always in tandem with each other.
My advice is when the game loads to the bridge change Nautical to GMT and Iif you are using the Real Navigation app your time to select will be always be based on GMT.

Oh I see. Two more follow-up questions:
1. What time does Real Nav automation script use? Nautical or GMT? If I change nautical to GMT, would that affect the scripts I am running?

2. I accidentally misplaced a nav mark on the map. Then all follow-up position marks were based on the misplaced mark. Even if I deleted that misplace mark, the new updates are still based that. Is there any way that I can reset my nav marks?

Again a nice tutorial!
Important should be an add that is important to see an old navigation mark or supermark when setting any new navigation fix/supermark (like Vecko added now the info on game when touching the pencils on the side bar) because when not, it will not work or often it caused a ctd.

The game always starts on Nautical time.
The Stopwatch always shows GMT time.
There will be times when the Nautical time and the Stopwatch time will be in sync when you start your game depending on where you are and what time of year it is.

To save confusion it is better to change Nautical time to GMT when the game starts and the Real Navigation app will be on GMT time when you enable it.

If you leave the time on Nautical without changing it then the Real Navigation app will use Nautical.

If the Real Navigation app is running and you decide to change the time from Nautical to GMT the Real Navigation app will automatically change to use GMT while it is enabled.

Order the navivigaor to plot a celestial map fix and this will replace any previous map plot.
All real navigation plots can be moved by you.

An alternative option is to make a manual game save and exit to the main menu. When you reload the save you will automatically see a RN1C celestial plot from your navigator as your starting position. You then start the real navigation app and the navigator automatically plots your position 2 by dead reckoning.

Thanks for all the tips. You've been very helpful. Just one more question. It seems that my navigator doesn't do celestial positioning during daytime for some reason. I can order it and he will respond but he never finishes his calculation.

Wolfcat
If the weather is not right a celestail fix by the navigator cannot be made.

I do not know anything on the actual facts of Celestial Navigation, not something I have looked at in the game, other than the fact a sextant is used.

The clue is in the name > Celestial!
You cannot see the stars in daylight so the sun is used instead to take a reading at its highest point in the day.
Your best option is to go on YouTube and search for "Celestial navigation in Silent Hunter 5" and see what pops up.

Hi Wolfcat
You need to open TDW's OFEV Ships Journal Tab where you will find the patches you need.

hmm... Very interesting. My supermarks still won't get saved into SJ. Also, regardless of GMT or nautical, my entry time is always 1hr+. The GMT time is 5pm, my entry is 6pm. If I flip to nautical, the time is 6 but entry time becomes 7.

Are you seeing the supermarks on the map?
Supermarks will not show unless when the game loads you open the Ships Journal and select the journal you are want to use.
If you are following my tutorial you should not be having a problem.
Are you using an existing jornal that shows on the main menu?

What mission are you doing?
What is the current date and time in your mission?
When the game loads you will see that the Navigator shows GMT as a + or - in the Message Box.

Peter,
I do see the super marks. They all look good on my map. I am doing the very first campaign and mission (coastal one that you need attack shippings in and out of Danzig bay). I have an existing SJ, but I also saved another one in game with a different name. I set TDW option to use GMT time only. Btw, how do I capture in-game screen shots and post them here?

When the game loads to the main menu the Ships Journal will show the last saved Journal, you can accept this or click on the Ships Journal and select a different one.

As you are in the first missison your Nautical time is 1 hour ahead of GMT. You will notice that ports do not go red untill 00.00 GMT/ Stopwatch time.
You also need to remember when you come to dock at Kiel always work on GMT or Stopwatch time.
