Default CO2 levels

I was just wondering about the Co2 and oxygen levels. Has this been modded like in SH3 where compressed air is added after a certain point, or oxygen bottles are used? I'm currently playing with TWOS. I've searched the forums and the only discussion I found was in SH3. It seems I can stay submerged till 100% then everyone will die. Has someone tried modding this in SH5?

Andrew

Hi DR
SH5 does not have that sophistication and is not modded as SH3 can be.
You will notice as soon as you surface your compressed air and oxygen is immediately 100%.
CO2 is also peculiarly as when you hit 10% you have to surface or your crew will die soon after.
It is the same with the morale in SH5, again like SH3, the fatigue can be switched on or off where as with SH5 we have to put up with a broken morale system.

Is this valid for TWOS mod too? I read someone wrote in TWOS it can go up until 40% before crew is dying...

Not entirely true...It will take some time until compressor do it's job and replenish used compressed air. This time is directly dependent on compressor damage state.
I don't see any problems with CO2 level droping almost instantly after boat surfacing. Ventilation of small subs, like type VII was, should be really fast process IMO...

Not true at all...

In SH5 (or at least with TWoS) you can stay submerged until CO2 bar reaches 100% which is something like 30-48 hours depending of factors like bosun's passive ability to "calm down" the crew and used crew states (silent state - lower CO2 build up rate, battle stations and faster repairs- high CO2 build up rate).
Remember that 100% on Co2 bar simulates toxic CO2 level and NOT real percentage...

Unfortunately, SH5 doesn't simulate realistic drop in crew performances caused by oxygen deprivation but lack of oxygen will affect crew moral which also acts as fatigue, most of the time. Further on, crewman who is low on moral/fatigue points will not be able to perform some of his special abilities... For example, chief engineer will not be able to lead damage control team, bosun will be unable to "stimulate the crew" ect...

Once CO2 bar reaches 100%, the crew will die...
