A couple of great vids I came across whilst seeking something else:

Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood - Voodoo Chile

B.B. King & Gary Moore - The Thrill Is Gone

This next song is a bit of a mystery. I first heard it back in about '69-,70 when I found an LP for what was presented as the soundtrack for a film titled "Experience". It had a fairly slick, professional cover, but I suspect it was a tricked-up bootleg, one of the very many so common back then. The cover claimed the tracks were recorded at the Royal Albert Hall; in the years since, I have seen many, many different versions of the album and/or its tracks with conflicting gig locations, musician listings, and even differing song titles. As far as I know, no such film was ever made or, if it was, has never seen the light of day. If you listen to the track, there is an apparent lack of audience sounds, leading to suspect the track was, live in studio, not from a concert, or taken live from a soundcheck, perhaps. All I really know is this is Jimi Hendrix and his early take on this song and the jam is really, really, good; I think this version is way better than the sped up, multi-layered 'official' posthumous album version:

Jimi Hendrix - Roomful Of Mirrors

I have always liked Steve Winwood and largely thought he was vastly underrated as a musician, keyboard player, vocalist and certainly as a lead guitarist.

Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton - Can't Find My Way Home

Steve Winwood - My Love's Leavin

There are songs, when you hear them sung by particular artists, that seem to have been written for no one but that particular artist. Jimi Hendrix was fearful of Bob Dylan's reaction to his version of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower; Dylan was so impressed by Hendrix's version, he adopted the arrangement for his live performances. This song is a cover sung by Johnny Cash, a huge favorite of mine. When I first heard it, I realized how perfectly the song and the singer seemed destined; add in the history of Cash's career and the gravitas his voice and style lend to the song, there is no one else who could have done it justice:

Johnny Cash - Hurt

Here is a video of a song sung by Johnny Cash with an impressive number of well-known people, some of whom are surprising:

Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down

A favorite song; a bit of trivia: the spoken sound samples are bits of dialogue from the film Performance starring Mick Jagger and James Fox, a truly strange movie that came out about 1970. Also, for Jimbuna, David Bowie is seen in the video in a scene lifted from The Man Who Fell To Earth...
