I get why the dumb @ss idea of spreading democracy hardly ever worked, even Europeans don't really "get" the USA. We would be so much better off with "America First".

It is true that in Europe there are some "wise guys", especially in the media, who seems to know all but know not much about the US at all.

But it is also true that American scientist and historians also warns that the democracy in the US , label it as democratic republic or whatever, is not guaranteed to exist forever. If it is wise to ignore this , everybody may decide themselves as also is if we go back to middle age and ignore science and call it fake news...climate change as one example

We well see when Trump looses by a small margin, what happens. My assumption is that he will not accept defeat - as his supporters. They will probably claim that the usual suspicious media and the election system was unfair. Of crs also forgetting the little help of Uncle Putin in 2016 - and of crs also in 2020 but a little more subtle this time, I guess. But yeah, I know fake news...

Considering the reaction after Trump's 2016 win I would suggest a different possiblity. Regardless of the margin of victory Trump might have the likelihood of widescale violent protests by the Antifa lads and others is almost certain. I don't recall any thing similar after President Obama's two wins.

Ordinary people are expert in every aspect of USA, whether they are for or against Trump, you can bet on they are expert in whatever Trump do or don't

Michigan City Clerk Charged with Altering Ballots in 2018 Midterms

Sherikia Hawkins was charged Monday with six felony counts for allegedly altering absentee ballots during the November 2018 election in her capacity as city clerk for the Detroit suburb of Southfield, Mich.
Hawkins, a 38-year-old registered Democrat, stands accused of altering 193 absentee ballots. She was arraigned Monday in Southfield on charges including falsifying returns or records, forgery of a public record, misconduct in office, and multiple counts of using a computer to commit a crime. She was released on $15,000 bond.
The alleged misconduct was discovered after the Oakland County Clerk’s Office noticed that 193 voter files had been changed to reflect that the voters failed to include a valid signature or return date, when all of the implicated voters had in fact included both items. The county clerk’s office later discovered the original voter files in the trash at the election-division office. The Michigan State Police then launched an investigation that resulted in Hawkins’s arrest.
