Map - Japanese Shipping Lanes in Pacific

Just found this on web, a map of Japanese shipping lanes during WW2 (see legend):

Cool. The one major difference I notice with the game map is the game map shows a lot more traffic to and from Kobe. But a pretty close representation overall it seems.

It would be great yes...

I only have 1 but to it... I see there's no traffic at Fromosa (Luzon Straights) at all, which is weird, as in game when sent there you have some good hunting (sunk me a Fuso, Kongo and a few passenger liners).

More informative maps...

Thank you, Reece. There are interesting maps in the previous chapter which show the detail of the SW Pacific islands, including one that gives Japanese positions in the Solomons. While we submerged turtles don't really have to worry too much about the details of the landlocked enemy, I wonder how much shoreline detail has been programmed into the AI. Oh well, I like maps, and the reference you provided is great reading too. Thanks again.

Now thats a great find.

Pull down map ftw!

Amazing to see the japs could still operate ships all the way to Timor if needed in late 44. I guess by that stage the clearness of the routes was less important than the fact they were running out of boats.

Good to read something with the New Zealander's in it also. We would have done far more in the pacific if we weren't so busy trying to save England. Sometimes strategic imperatives are a real pain in the backside

I don't know how well known it is, but the NZ airforce also operated from US carriers in the pacific. They were known for their style of dropping onto the carrier decks... hard and fast. It's amazing when I see some footage of it in doco's, with the intention to let the viewer think they are Americans. It's even more impressive that the Americans allowed us to use our own doctrine while on their vessels. Especially considering how reckless they thought we were ^^

Gonna have to look at the navigators table and see if there are any mods that affect that graphic, but just for the fun of it, I put together a pull down for anyone using Captain Cox's pull down map, one for TM and one for RFB (which can also be used on stock). I haven't tried out either TM or RFB since I don't use either mod, but if there are any problems with those versions, let me know and I'll get it right.

Traffic Map - Captain Cox version

Traffic Map - TM version

Traffic Map - RFB and stock version

Digital_Trucker,

I just tried your pull-down map mod for the stock game and only a small corner of the map is being shown. I am running at 1280x1024 5:4 60Hz resolution.

I tried downloading a second time and it does the same thing.

I tried using the mod for Trigger Maru and it worked great.
Haven't tried it with RFB thou.

Do you have any suggestions.
Thanks

Not to be a smart alec or anything, but did you read the installation instructions in the documentation folder? Some changes have to be made to the menu.ini file in order for the map to display. I included the section that needs to be changed in a .txt file if you want to paste it in manually and a .ini file for JimiMadrid's JTxE program if you want to make the changes that way. The reason the TM version works is that TM already has a pulldown with the same specifications and only the graphic file needs to be changed. The same goes for anyone using Captain Cox's pull down map (or any mod that includes it, ie MHSMC). I really should have stressed that when I put the links up

If you did one of those and it still doesn't work right, let me know and I'll see what the problem is.
