@Jim

Manfred is very good. I like especially the Earth Band's heavy prog style.
Good memories.
Nightingales & Bombers is my favorite record from Manfred.

I was walking back home from the post office when I happened to spy a new bronze plaque mounted on the wall of a building here in Hollywood. The plaque was to commemorate the building as the former home of the Wally Heider Recording Studio 3, a legendary place where all manner of major acts recorded; this link gives a listing of some of the artists and albums associated with the place:

https://www.discogs.com/label/109826...io-Los-Angeles

Seeing the plaque got me to thinking about a lot of the other once famous recording studios in Hollywood now gone in this age of compact digital recording. As I tried to recall which ones were gone and which one's were still around, the very famous Gold Star Studio came to mind; I tried to recall when it closed down, but I couldn't pinpoint the year, so I got on the web to look it up; lo, and behold, not only did I find the year, 1984, I also found out the families of the owners of the studio have a web page to commemorate and document the studio's history and importance to music:

http://www.goldstarrecordingstudios.com/

As I read the text of the studio's accomplishments, I came across a rather glaring misstatement:

"The Runaways - The Runaways - (First album by all-female Rock & Roll band)"

My mind immediately woke up the memory of an earlier, by about a decade, all-girl group who released about a half dozen albums before the Go-Go's were even of legal drinking age. The group made a bit of a splash at the time, both for their music and the name of their band, Fanny. (Entering their name in the search engine brought up all manner of non-musical results...). The band was very good and probably a bit before their time; here are a couple of Fanny clips (that somehow doesn't sound quite right):

I do know about Birtha, but I fully admit I had forgotten about them until you posted; I recall they had a following here in LA and I recall seeing their name on the marquee of the Whisky-A-Go-Go; good catch...

Came across these videos showcasing Tina Turner with Ike & The Ikettes; Tina, full throttle; if James Brown was the Godfather Of Soul, Tina has to be the Godmother; she certainly was Hardest Working Woman In Show Business:
