Because he wants to look like that, I would assume.

What’s wrong with deaf people knowing about what’s going on in their country at the same time as everyone else?

You're taking me out of context, I was asking why they brought in a Mime for the blind people.

Yes, I was just remaking the point. It didn't matter anyway.

Trump has been permanently banned from Twitter now. I suppose he'll need to invest in a stump or start a newspaper to exercise his first amendment right.

Graham was a stable Trump ally, when he says there is no evidence of the kind of fraud that Trump alleges, I am inclined to believe him.

I wonder what would happen if every single Trump voter changed their party affiliation to democrat?

I find it funny Colbert had better ratings when he was pretending to be a conservative!

He’s barely hanging on nowadays.

And there you have it. Big tech is now more powerful than the President. The War On Terror will now become the war on political dissidents in the USA, meaning anyone who disagrees with the leftist/Democrat party ideology. Let's face it if the President isn't exempt from this kind of censorship, nobody is.

It’s not as if Trump’s or anyone else’s constitutional rights have been violated by Twitter. He still has freedom of speech, he’s simply been barred from private property (Twitter) by the owner of said private property.

Twitter is a service provided by a corporation, and in a capitalist society like the USA, they have the right to determine who uses their services.

The US government could, of course, exert greater control over corporations and forbid Twitter from banning members of the US government, but that level of government control over private businesses would bring the US closer to socialism, which is, ironically, not something Trump’s followers will support at all.

Twitter terms of service:

https://twitter.com/en/tos

Quote:
We may suspend or terminate your account or cease providing you with all or part of the Services at any time for any or no reason, including, but not limited to, if we reasonably believe: (i) you have violated these Terms or the Twitter Rules and Policies or Periscope Community Guidelines, (ii) you create risk or possible legal exposure for us; (iii) your account should be removed due to unlawful conduct, (iv) your account should be removed due to prolonged inactivity; or (v) our provision of the Services to you is no longer commercially viable
Trump has approved these TOS. Are you saying the business activity of companies as independent market participants should be restricted in order to make sure criminal action can go on (Incitement to riot is illegal under U.S. federal law.)? Now that's an anti-economic, anti-libitarian commie approach. You surprise me.

I am aware that Twitter is a private company with terms of service. I wasn't born yesterday. You both seem to have missed the point. This isn't the end but just the beginning. I certainly don't think that a company like Twitter needs you guys to defend them. Tech platforms like Google, Facebook and Twitter may be private entities but their influence and power doesn't need to be stated. Their political sympathies are not a secret. Their political power is enormous. Or do you think they are apolitical?

My point is simple. If Twitter can ban the President of the USA then they can ban you. There are very little alternatives to these platforms. If that doesn't make you sit up and notice then I can only assume that you agree with their political leanings.

I am a child of the 60's. I can clearly remember when the Liberal/Left railed against Big Brother and the administrative state. We have now come full circle and people, especially young people who are on the Left completely embrace the idea of censorship, Big Tech and a government that wishes to criminalize political dissent. We should be worried.

Do governments take advantage of events like the farce we saw on Jan. 6? 9/11 wasn't that long ago and the resulting War On Terror saw a massive overreach by US intellegence agencies on the lives of Americans. Twitter didn't exist then. One has to wonder that if it had the kind of power it does today would they have been complicit in the actions of Federal government. The government is kept in check by the Constitution. Because Twitter and Facebook are private entities they are completely unchecked. You guys ok with that?

I don't know where either of you guys fit on the political spectrum. But I am going to guess that it is to the left of center. I'd like to say that you surprise me but so far I can't.
