I saw it ages ago too, for a school thing. I was more interested in the planes than the pigeons TBH

Excellent. The characters are a lot more real than in past Bond films - fallible and imperfect. It's still got the action and the gadgets, but it's also got some humanity, something lacking in the last decade or two. It also gives a tip of the hat to some early Bond outings. If you liked Casino Royale you'll like Skyfall.
One thing I found interesting is that whereas Casino showed Bond's beginnings this one seems to jump ahead quite a few years, with comments about Bond getting old and some references to his past. As I said, mention of one particular early movie seems to be far in this Bond's past as well. I can say no more.

Not a bad movie and possibly the best ending of a Bond film...pretty sad too.

On the one hand that whole movie was "sad", even if it did follow the book fairly closely.
On the other hand it had Diana Rigg in it, so it's still one of my favorites despite its flaws.

I couldn't pass it up. I know I shouldn't buy for myself right before Christmas but who knows when I'll ever see that price for it again! Quote:

![]() ![]() I think I promised somewhere that I'd report on this when I'd seen it. Never heard of it before: comedy, typical 60s look and approach but that's OK: I grew up with 60s war films. Paul Newman's character was unexpectedly likeable. Unfortunately, after a pint, two large scotches, two packets of crisps and half a bag of Chocolate Orange, I fell asleep and missed the end. |

Could have been worse like waking up on a Prague sidewalk with a hangover. Not that a gentleman such as myself would ever do such a thing. But let's just say that it was similar to the scene at the beginning of Das Boot only no Kreigsmarine submariners where present or I mean to say I was told of such schinigans being a gentleman I abscond from such behavior.

Getting legless is preferable to the van Gogh phase and getting ear-less...
![]() Which brings me to Kirk Douglas' awe-inspiring portrayal of the artist in the movie "Lust For Life". Even if you're not remotely interested in painters or the Arts, you'll likely greatly enjoy this film, old as it is now. A gem... |
