Okay guys, we all like a laugh but kindly refrain from personal attacks and name calling/insults....I know we have French nationals who frequent our forum.

TIA

Every Olympics starts with French anyway. It's the language of the IOC. Every games has started this way. The Chinese sure weren't complaining!

I was right(Sort of)

Yesterday danish TV2Sport asked on Facebook, if we could guess who's gonna light the olympic torch

I wrote

Up til the second were the torch is to be lighted, it is always a secret how it will be done and by whom

If I was the one that should arrange such a ceremony, I would take an ordinary person from the street and let this person egnite the torch, just to take everyone by big surprice.

about 30 minutes later 6 young people, unknown to us all, lighted the torch.

Matt Lauer got zero love on Twitter last night for his narratives during the opening ceremony. People are still tweeting their disdain today (49 new tweets since I started typing this post).

I hear the Olympic organisers have launched an investigation into a number of empty seats. Those seats would have been filled by the general public if you let them in for a fair price.

I hear the head of the Somali Olympic squad has apologized to officials on behalf of their team, after realizing shooting and sailing were two separate events..

I think Boris has been reading my post about empty seats, looks like he's going to let the general public in to fill those seats.

Right Boris your next task is to give me £2000 for that good idea.

So, on Friday I caught some of the opening ceremony whilst masticating pizza, last night I caught some more and I must say that the best thing was watching the Arctic Monkeys' drummer pulling faces whilst playing. Hilarious.
