The statistic was not in question. The "should" is.

If you look at the bls statistics, you'll see that the largest contributor to inflation is housing or rent increases if you will. Who controls that in the White House?

You didn't even read the bls report which explains exactly why and projects a when in September at the current trending.

Same spin being fed to the masses here in the UK

I was talking about the cost of groceries and fuel but regardless inflation causes housing/rent increases it's not the other way around. Another big factor controlling housing costs are lending rate increases. Guess who controls that?

Why is housing in Boston so expensive?

Experts say local policies, high interest rates, and a lack of supply drive up costs.

No need to read the report. The media using should is something they need to stop. Either it will or it won't. Hard fact. Something that eludes the media time and time again.

The latest reason in shortages of home is placed on the Boomers. They are retiring in place and not selling their huge homes to live in an apartment. Just nonsense. Whatever gets you through your day I guess.

I'm a boomer and my huge house is 800 square feet, and I've worked my entire life since I had a paper route, but if it makes you happy, I just retired yesterday at 68 after having a mild stroke on July 4th.

So, when do you propose, seniors start getting turned into soilent green?

Budda, I'm one year shy of Boomer status. But that makes no difference. I lived and worked with Boomers all my life. They tend to rub off on you. I too have worked my entire life. At 59 I'm still working and diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. Not sure what your trying to say.

I made a point that a few are blaming Boomers for housing shortages because they will not sell and move to a condo or similar. They are retiring in place as they should if they can afford it. My wife and I have a 4 bedroom home with pool. Our daughters are out doing their thing. We have no desire to sell our home. We will retire in place.

In short, just something the millennials are blaming on Boomer.

Happy retirement.

I apologize, I felt you were blaming boomers yourself.

The largest contributor to inflation is government spending financed by an increase in the money supply. This causes more money in circulation to chase after the same amount of goods.

Probably followed by fractional reserve bank lending and counterfeiting

No sir. Just utter nonsense what some come up with. This is one of them.
