Default 08x15

08/15 is a German equivalent of FUBAR. It refers to the model 1908/1915 Spandau Machine Gun, which is heavy, clumsy, inefficient and unreliable--the prefect symbol of military FUBAR.

I read the Gunner Asch stories years ago and loved them = The 08/15 stories = in English:

The Revolt of Gunner Asch
Forward Gunner Asch
The Return of Gunner Asch
What became of Gunner Asch

by Hans Kirst.

I loved them.

I was having too many beers one night and wanted to see some buddies on irc but I didn't want the whole channel to know about it so I had to think of a new nick. My liquored up mind came up with LoneTraveller.

5 months later San Andreas come out for PC and having loved Vice City (I finished it 5 times at 100%, 4 times without maps) I had to finish it. When I heard the hippie call CJ "lonetraveller" I was like

I believe the meaning of my nick is it reflects the way I live my life.

Mine relates to a nickname I got when working at Shell (yes, as in Royal Dutch Shell) here in Australia. Won't bother with the actual details....other than to confirm that it is related to the phrase "mind like a steel trap" (I'm not making any claims, the nick was given to me and stuck....).

That was in 1989....

Used it in quite a few different places since.

Well... I'm lucky. As in "I've got lots of luck." Might be good luck, might be bad luck, but there's a lot of it. I don't seem to spend much time in the middle.

Gotta go with you on the Gunner Asch books. I just love his relationships with officers of all kinds and his descriptions of cooking are simply magnificent!

Mine is from an old D&D character I had. (A confused thief...sometimes he helped people...sometimes he robbed them blind...depended on how drunk he was at the time...heh). I use the name on most of the forums I've been on.
