Not sure if we have a thread for it already, but here's Wonderwal...errr...I mean, War Thunder. A thread for discussing, showing pictures and...stuff.

This is my go-to-game at the moment; like I've said elsewhere, the combined arms aspect of this puts this game light years ahead of the "other tank game," in my book. Loads of fun.
Things I've learned playing so far (tongue in cheek mode on!): 1. German tank designers really didn't like German tank crews; must have been issues regarding tankers stealing their girls or something and them getting their final revenge on those poor bastards. 2. That self propelled Soviet AA gun - the one whose name escapes me but which packs that 37mm and high rate of fire - is a total troll machine. Hate them. 3. Getting stuck in shell holes is as embarassing in the game as it would be in real life. 4. There is a blessed lack of "Rommels," "Wittmans," etc. that seem to populate the World of Tanks side of things. Expect this to change at some point but so far, I've been lucky. 5. The quad .50 American half-track AA gun is metal as hell. Pity they couldn't animate the crew to be throwing the horns and headbanging as it shoots. ![]() |

My games at the moment seem to go like so:
1: Spawn 2: Encounter Sherman 3: Die 4: Goto 1 |

Playing German, my game is more like: spawn and drive to whatever cap point seems to need support. Stop to look for enemy tanks or planes while in cover before committing to the cap point. Die by 122mm hammer or P-47 strike.
I won't complain 'bout bias or none of that noise as it detracts from the game overall but it does feel like things are stacked against the Germans from time to time (but this could also be the teams I'm with; the "spawn points," thing also seems to favor the non-German side too but again, this could be just me). |

Still, considering where the developers are HQ'd it really shouldn't come as a surprise should it? ![]() |

Started watching Girls und Panzer yesterday.
It was... interesting. ------------------------ Anyway, War Thunder certainly appeals to me thanks to it's combined arms element. But when it comes to games with playable planes and tanks... I do enjoy this game more: But War Thunder should be getting a Navy soon, and I'll definitely try that out ![]()

I'm going to have to grind for some Shermans soon...see if they're as indestructible when I use them.
![]() Seriously 7/10 deaths while I'm playing as a German tank in Simulated battles is by a Sherman, usually a HVSS or an A2. It's almost a relief to be plugged by a KV-2 or a T-34 prototype. ![]() |
