Aww hobnailboot, I know how that feels, that used to happen to me a lot, also... it happened recently on a fail raid on Scapa in my IID
probaly before i posted a wel detailed map with acurate intel on the happy hunting grounds :hmm:

if you stay close to shore and set speed to 1 or 1/2 knot they wont detect you and you can sneak to the harbour

when in the harbour sinking ships only 1 of the 5 DD's will show up

U-177 is now a file in a cabinet in the basement of the F.B.I building, it's now a X-File.

In real life my hard drive died.

Back to the beginning.

I was wondering what happened to you. Good to see you back.
When my thinggie crashed after GWX 1.03 install, I had to start from scratch --Not a bad thing really, with the experience of an old campaigner, I'm having a spectacular career. You will have one for the books.

Mar 21, -42. 1820 hours. St: Nazaire, 7´th Flot.

Kapitänleutnant Bruno Ambrosius docks U-46 for the last time. After 17 patrols (527 days), 93 merchants and 8 warships for 593426 tons and 9 enemy planes downed the boat will finally be sent home for training duty´s.
Ambosius and crew leaves U-46 with mixed feelings, a brand new VIIc for the next patrol, yes, but this old and worn boat was their darling for two and a half year

U-109 Heading back to port for repairs after taking damage and losing 4 men to a surprise air attacker armed with Depth Charges in the Med. One landed right next to the boat, rupturing the compressor, and damaging both the command and front torpedo room. The resulting explosion killed 4 on deck, and wounded 3 more.

U 409 just returned to La Spezia from a patrol near alexandria and tobruk

bagged 60something tonnes but 2 big battleships got away despite getting hid solidly that's the second time a King George V just refuses to sink on me, gah!

Next patrol will be SE of Sicily, perhaps I'll get another shot at a juicy BB

U-123
03 Dezember 1940

Tanker Allee.
Returning Lorient from tanker route research and busting patrol. 1 torpedo left.
Results:
9 Tankers
4 Freighters
1 Corvette

Tonnage for patrol: 135,676 BRT

The freighters and corvette are the result of mixing it with convoys that entered my area. Sorry.

Mohr, 10 neutrals by accident? You've really worked hard for that one! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Trying to start WWIII before WWII is over?

On the way back to Willi shortly in my V11B, 66% Hull Int. May/June 1940. Patrol 6.

Spent a week east and north of Scapa, but the swordfish eventually came in packs of about 6 and a single 20mm was not enough to keep them at bay forever while I recharged batts. Sadly, lost my flak gunner (RIP Matey) after he downed about 9 of them, and a Hurri. Concentrated on the C2 and C3 with single torps and deckie to finsih, also a couple'a small merchs. Managed to get 7 cargos.

Went on to patrol of north-east Ireland (AM44 I think?) and clouted a few more smaller clankers, and a single V and W. On trip back with only 5 torps left ran straight into a big convoy just north of AM52, heading ESE about 5 knots !!! Only 3 neutrals at the back of convoy. Unfortunately the weather is lovely (clear, 5 m wind, no fog)

Only 1 DD escort, and thats now in Davy Jones Locker - but it took 2 eels, and he hit me also with 1 or 2 rounds from his guns. Was running on surface, very slow - and watch didn't see him until at 3km! Badly damaged topsides - but all repairable, with time, except flak gun.

But now have an unprotected CONVOY! Have 3 eels left and about 65 rounds of 88mm - so proceeeding to try and despatch the 2 T2's, 'cos they're usually 1 shot only, and as many of the C2's as I can manage before running out of ammo.

Will report in later..... if possible, as going back thru' the channel for fun!
Happy Hunting,
Mike C U-69

2. April 1942, Eastern Med:

16 days out of Salamis - heading towards patrol objective SSE of Sardinia - stumbled into a single Small Merchant in CO55 (NW of Tobruk) and scored my first one-shot kill - picked up a contact on 15 nm due N and ordered flank to intercept - a Large Merchant escorted by a Flower class and a V&W class was engaged in foul weather - a spread of 3 fish took care of the merchant and since the Flower class passed my UZO they are now swimming with the fishes - did some deep-dive escape & evasion excercises with the V&W to condition the rookie crew and finally slipped away.

The deck-chairs are out, I have my "leeder-hosen" on and a chilled bottle of "Paderborn" in my hand, so the memories of the Noth-Atlantic gales are far away.

after reporting the problems with U-71 they checked it and it was declared sea unworthy .so i got command of U-73 and set sail to.... somwhere (ended up near canada)

departed from kiel on 25 juli 1940

sank 2 large merchants on 26 juli
then silence till i sank an armed trawler on 11 august 1940

on 14 august 1940 i sank
2 DD's
1 armed trawler
1 Dido light kreuzer
1 large merchant
1 small merchant
1 armed schlepper

pressed esc and ended patrol couse i was out of fuel

Ergebnisse
Verluste: 2 tot
Versenkte Schiffe: 10
Zerstörte Flugzeuge: 0
Versenkte Tonnage: 33582 Tonnen

edit: now im on a new patrol (off to alexandia) and i see a convoy icon that looks like the friendly sub icon... is it a convoy of our subs or just a friendly convoy ?
