U-78 had just left St Nazaire at night for her third patrol in September 1943 with a PZ near Greenland so I took the short route (not usual) through DD land where my 3 and 4 rated monsters lurk.
In a driving rain I ran into one who blasted my surprised ars to 48%. I have learned that making any turn from a charging DD at zero means he rips me a new one so better to brush him and pray. I went to periscope and hoped to cath him with a spread but he came out of the mist with his turbo lit and I could not set up for the shot and caught some close by depth charges. Now I am at 31% and sweating. I pull some fighter plane tactics turning in to him rather than away and after a nice decoy caught his fancey managed to limp far enough away that he lost my sent. But, Uber DDs don't just leave and that dog sniffed around to keep me down and quiet for another 2 hours before I could finally surface. It is of the rarest thing for me to terminate a patrol but I limped my defeated but still alive buttt back to port so I could fight another day.
He might have thought he sank me but Not today, not this time!!!!
These close calls are the coolest missions and they really are much better (IMO) at 100%

I've used the external view in single scenarios just to watch how the escorts do their jobs.

Never in a campaign patrol.

And who cares what you think anyway? :P

What? You mean you don't play this simply to impress me and others???

Why next you will say one should play this in a manner that they enjoy and not worry about how others play it. :hmm:

Anarchy!!! :rotfl:

Whatever way makes you happy is certainly the right way to play this.
My point was just to let you know what most are saying about the; “Oh, I never peak when I am being depth charged”
Say it all you want most just chuckle and say, yeah right!!

Hey, the fact is; all of saying we play at 100% is also just a claim.

Maybe some are playing at 29% and just embarrassed to admit they are "Fraulein Kaleun".

You hate me???? get in line :rotfl: I'm a Republican and in the NRA!

I really enjoy the graphics in this game too much, I'll never have 100% realism just because I love watching the action.
DIDDO....I enjoy watching the action way to much to give up the camera. Other wise why did we sit up watching the old sub movies if we didn't love the action so much. You can't get the same feel from a book as watching "The Enemy Below", "Torpedo Run", "Operation Pacific", etc....
I love to sit back and read about it as well. You can't get that kind of information from a screen, but still there's nothing like watching that fish come out of the tube and head for it's target.

Since spending so many hours in the torpedo training room I have finally learned the manual targeting to the point that all my torps get fired manually. It was like having a light come on when all the pieces suddenly started falling together and I realized what needed to be done to manually target. The only other item that I have to use for now is the target/ sea motion thru the periscope. I little ways out from trying to target while my boat is rocking up and down. I'm not sure but I think that puts me at 92%.

:rotfl: Stereo typing are we??? Now if I said democrats are all communist some might agree but that would also be an ignorant stereo type and like nearly all are not true. We are strongest when all sides both respect and consider the others point of view..

We don't have to register anything here in Florida except full auto machine guns (Never had any interest in them)or if we want to carry a concealed weapon but that does not mean registering a weapon just getting a licence.

I do miss having an occasional view at new items but many things only go max difficulty if it is 100% and I do that with all my games. F1-2002 I do as hard as possible, AI 125%, Flight sims as hard as I can make it AI all Ace.
Just my preferance. Right for me but whatever you enjoy it at that is right for you!! (Fraulein Kaleunen!!! :rotfl: )
