Sure, it's a new Alien film. Not hyped, but interested.

More or less how I see it, though I have very negative expectations for it by now. Trailers gave me nothing, nothing at all - besides this unsympathetic "Prometheus vibe" and the impression that in May we'll get just another sub-par movie, instead of a valuable addition to the franchise.

Yes, yes, negative Nips is negative - but I fear I'll be right in the end.

With that attitude there's no choice, but for you to dislike it.

It can still convince me of the opposite, wouldn't be the first movie.

I find that Ridley Scott actually did a great job establishing the world with Prometheus even when the plot went weird at times.. 'World-building' and atmosphere were top-notch.. Not like avatar or battleship where the entire movie looks like a cartoon or is flat out retarded from the get-go. I also liked cringeworthy independence day for its visuals, basically the only movie where an alien invasion is portrayed with a hollywood budget even when the plot is silly at best

Very interesting..... but creepy as all hell.

I couldn't get heads or tails it watching the Trailers. But maybe that was their plan all along.

The premise is the same as in A L I E N more or less. Ship is going to destination X, diverts to destination Y after picking up a signal aaaand poop hits the fan.

Saw the full "backbuster" scene earlier today. Put a smile on my face.

Indeed.
Do you consider this good, bad - or are you neutral about it?

I'm neutral about that and do not believe that one has to re-invent the wheel constantly, as long as a system works and gets polished up, I'm fine with it.
Same goes for movies.
After all, most movies are remakes of very old stories, just told differently.
Most people don't even notice that.

I wonder if Ridley Scott will do anything with the Predators?

All the same to me as long as it works.

Why would he? He has never shown any interest in making a Predator movie. Besides, there's one already being made by Shane Black.

Premiere was yesterday in the UK, first reaction on twitter is positive though this is what an 'ALIEN fan' (admin of AvPG) said:

However, it's brisk as ****. This is Ridley chopping his film up like he did Prometheus. And the way the Alien's are handled...I wouldn't say it ruined the film for me but I'm surprised I didn't smash my face in with some facepalms.

Pay a good £30 odd plus just to see it a week before general release who are these rich sods?

I will be seeing it maybe next week or the week after.
