Once again, heartfelt thanks - and apologies to Orpheus and his mate.

They saved me after a many-mile chase, fed and watered me, led me to supplies and how did I repay them? By letting my finger slip off my scroll button on to the fire button whilst trying to pick up binoculars!

BANG = Z'athon

Hehe no probs, that's half the fun of the game! Amazed I survived but thanks to Cos's herculean effort I crawled off into the hills half blind and barely breathing Someone'll come help me in a day or two I expect

Use the search function for the other 5 days too if you enjoy that

Thought I might explain what I did last night.

Well, to start off, I hooked up with my friend once again. Safety in numbers right? Wrong. Straight away a huge group of undead charged at us before we could even blink. One guy started firing wildly after being surrounded and "accidentally" hit me. Twice . One in the lower back and one in the leg. Thankfully , the zombies shredded him and he had no hope. I on the other hand, did. I crawled inside a nearby building barely living and before long my friend came and helped me. In the surprisingly long time that I had been dying inside, it turned out that we had lost more than just the idiotic shooter. Then my mean streak kicked in. I pulled out a pistol and shot my friend, who had just helped me straight in the middle of the head. He fell to the ground with a thud and I grabbed all his things. Survival of the fittest? . Of course, the others were not going to take that. They turned on me and I had to run for my life. Although in the process they had just screwed themselves. The noise of the guns shooting at me had attracted a lot of angry zombies and it wasn't long until the guns fell silent. I had assumed here that I was the lone survivor from the group. Then at a farmhouse, I reviewed my inventory and scavenged items from the building. Here I plotted my next move. I knew I had to get supplies so I set a course for the nearest built up area. Then will I was walking down the road, I discovered a few players being chased by a group of infected. I followed them for a while and discovered they were heading for the airfield. I ran down and helped them fight off the undead. Then, I turned around to see my new group but they shot me several times. I was on the floor and I couldn't see but I could sense it was the end. One shot and I was dead.

Joining up with other players isn't ideal, it's reasonably ok with people you know, but with strangers - what's to stop them killing you to get your stuff. Nothing! They owe you no loyalty.

To play with others you definitely need access to a map (I have Chernarus printed on some 19 sheets of A4 and in a folder, but Orpheus and his mate had almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the area which helped us meet up), and remember your rough starting location - it's only shown for a second or two when you first spawn!

If you don't know the other players, I'd hide, and maybe follow them.

Finding others isn't a problem thanks to everyone spawning at the coast and the loot locations attracting players. Avoiding others is more of a problem. Sneaking into the center of a town only to find another player running in at full throttle and attracting all the zeds to your location is routine

Reinforcements arrived today so I'll get high-res textures and some more weaponry, that can only be a good thing, right?

Anyone on tonight?

Can't emphasise this enough:

Blink and you'll miss it but it's very useful. Something else very useful is this:

My ah, encyclopaedic knowledge is just a good sense of direction I think some of my group are on tonight, not sure if I will be yet but msg on steam and I'll put you in touch with them.

First hour in the land of the dead is behind and after spending most of that time
wondering "Where the fudge am I!?", I finally found a small village which thanks
to my amazing navigation skills (=reading the sign) turned out to be Pavlovo.

Found me a Makarov with 2 mags and more bandages than I will ever need.
Oh and a much needed can of pepsi, no food though...

It's starting to get dark where I play (Norway 4), so think this is a good time to
take a pause and have some IRL coffee and head back in when the night has
fallen.

And to set the mood when I play, I got both 28 Days and 28 Weeks OST's
playing in the BG quietly.
