Talk about coming up roeses! One convoy then another! I don't think you will be getting to your patrol area before running out of torpedos, but I'm sure going home eary due to running out of torpedos and gun rounds will make them forgive you and buy you a beer or two!

thanks!
the outlook for a good patrol was quite poor when the weather went sour. fortunately it improved just hours before intercepting that convoy. Im confident that another u-boat was attacking this convoy because lagging behind the convoy was those four stragglers. i only had enough torpedos loaded to bag two of three of them... too bad about the dud! ill settle for two. the third one didnt look like he was in the proper shape to last too long. in keeping with historical accuracy i will only load externals when the sea calms down. Im not sure whether or not i want to head back to port and wrap up a great 1x patrol or head for corrientes and try to get ahold of some extra torpedoes! :hmm: if i head for home it will no doubt take me another couple of days to get there... perhaps three days at good speed. that would mean the total patrol length would be about 8 days... seems a little unrealistic. but i guess for a VII boat that ventured into the Keltische See and got lucky it would be about right. im tempted to go get in touch with a resupply ship ![]()

if you are nearer to home than a supply ship, you should head home. Then start your next patrol

in order to prepare for such an event, i typically submerge during the night to about 40 - 80 meters and rig for silent running.
the volume us turned up slightly so that the creaks and groans are barely audible in my bedroom. (my office is right across the hall so with both doors open this is easy) hopefully, the sound of pinging, or the sound of the crew calling out a sonar contact would awaken me. My wife had the idea of going to the store and purchasing some cheap baby monitors. place one by the PC and the receiver by the bed at night. this way i can stay on the surface and make better headway. typically, i go to sleep about 1am and wake up around 7:30am so in reality there is not much time which has passed in the game. the risk of being attacked while asleep is minimal.
