Theodore played in real-time:

My wife just read the Kathy Reichs' book Bones to Ashes.

The main character was investigating a murder:

"Dorothee was a regular churchgoer, but stopped attending. No one is certain of the exact date. Though the family was known to be reclusive, neighbors grew worried. Yesterday two parishioners visited the Doucet farm. They found Dorothee and Genevieve dead in an upstairs bedroom. Theodore was downstairs playing Silent Hunter on his computer."

LeManche mistook my quizzical look. "It is a computer game. One does something with submarines."

I knew that. I was surprised LaManche did.

"You went to the scene?" I asked.

LaManche nodded. "The house was a nightmare, rooms crammed with useless trash. Oatmeal cartons. Newspapers. Tin cans. Used tissues. Feces in ziplock baggies."

"Theodore is being held for psychiatric evaluation?"

LaManche nodded.

Weather is changing every 32h or 32h after last game load. So my advice is using pause and alt+esc when you must left the game instead of "save and quit". Anyway saving without exit do not reset weather timer.

Been at sea for three days now heading for AM31 on my VIIC. (1939) Have seen no ships. I have read three books and consumed vast amounts of scotch. If GWX had submarine police I would be in jail.

ps: Not a 1x fanatic just stupid. Ich danke Gott für die Gehäuse-Musik, Bücher und Scotch.

I'm fiveth day on the NordSee (5/09/1939), and nothing. Only what I find was a Holland thug boat (neutral).

Its great to read peoples ideas and discussions about playing realtime in sims. The great thing about SH3 and also GWX is that it gives us the option to do so, or not. I've considered it, but I don't know if I could manage it. I'm definitely gonna try manual tracking and targetting and take it from there. When I was flying the F19 Stealth Fighter on the Commodore C64, way back in the early 80's i thought I was a real sim user hehe. Wow how things have changed.

Good hunting guys,

Gen

If you're a REAL man, you sync the ingame clock with the SH3 clock and begin your patrol on the same day of the year.

...and when you get back to base, wait however many weeks before beginning your next patrol for real life to catch up!

And if you die, you put the game away and never play it again. Ever.

Or charter a boat with a submersible and go out to the exact spot where your sim boat sank and subject yourself to death by taking the chartered submersible to beyond its crush depth, though some might argue this is taking it a wee bit too far

It's things like this that makes Subsim.com about the best forum on the Internet.
I stick with the Ctrl click for the time being because that mod doesnt allow to take sun shots, only star shots so you only can fix your position at night (wich is not realistic) and do dead reckoning to fix your position at day wich was not what they did in reality because they used the sextant at day.
