Umm I had my longest sniping kills yesterday the distance was half between 2 dots. Two dots is 850m while 4 dots(double of two) would make a target roughly half the range at 450m. So half between 2 dots would probably make the target at double 850m or about 1,600m or 1.6 click.

Windage played a big factor at this distance which I measured using the kestrel. I also played with scope setting too.

I made 2 kills at about 1,500-1,600m(standing up marksman in the woods) and another 1,400m-1,500m(a BMP 3 commander sticking out). All hit targets were stationary.

But I expended 6 magazines of TAC-50SD(silenced) or 30 bullets and only made that 3 kills and many many close hits (each kill averaging expending 7-8 bullets). The other targets which were moving were all missed.
Sniping is hard and painful because of the waiting and the ever changing adjustment thanks to the ever changing windage(going alternately in two direction and in changing strength). Hitting a moving target(walking) at more than 1,000 or 1,200m is also a pain in the ass due to combination of leading the target and the windage.

This TAC-50SD sniping rifle is amazing because they could engage a target up to 2,000m and they come equipped with silencer too(Played with ACE2 and ACEX).

The only shortcoming is my poor skills .

Well ArmA 2 is incredibly realistic when it comes to sniping(bullet trajectory). I've never played a more realistic shooter game than this.

Edit:
After a further practice I realized it was more probably 1,100 and 1,300m instead of 1,600 and 1,500 m

Is anyone playing with the latest beta patch.

My benchmark 1 registered a lower average fps(by 2 points)
but the campaign and other missions gain substantial fps increase it seems (from 4-10 fps more)

it has made me to avoid the latest official build for now. Quite contend with the beta patch.

Edit: Well the gain in fps was a false observation. FPS drops with the bat patch actually.

I believe they're testing different ways to make the game overall smoother, even at a slight cost to FPS. Somewhere in the beta-patch forums one of the devs said they especially want feedback on how smooth the game feels, and that benchmarks don't necessarily represent this very well. I noticed precisely this effect with one of the earlier beta-patches: smooth gameplay but slightly lower FPS. I haven't tried the latest ones so no idea on how they've progressed.

I see. There's an even newer one. They are releasing new beta build fast.

ACE 2 mod team is releasing their update much faster and much more often than Microsoft would update their OS. I don't know if it was passion or obsession.

I'm ordering Arrowhead online together with Napoleon Total War which is never stocked here by seller plus shipping is free and the price is great compared to buying from the retailer here.

Good luck with OA! BIS at it again!

"Performance optimizations" my arse.

Quote:
As some had already mentioned there's a performance hit in Operation Arrowhead. Not just in Takistan, but also running Chernarus/Utes missions with the OA launcher. This thread is to help people get performance closer to vanilla ArmA2 1.07.

Unplayable > lots of patching > kinda playable > expansion > slideshow.

Not sure what's wrong with you guys. There was a single patch, which was only to get ArmA II patched to 1.07 so that everyone was on the same patch level.

Performance for me was spectacular (all settings on High @1920x1200) and gameplay was super fun.

Only tried Multiplayer once, and crashed when some moron with ACE tried to join a non-ACE server, but otherwise was stable and solid for over an hour before I went to bed.

System?

Performance is not satisfactory on 8800GTS512, Q9550 and 4GB low-latency DDR2, stuck on a P45 chipset.

If it doesn't run well on that, it's just not worth my time tbh.

Never been unplayable here. Granted I went straight to 1.01, which came out right after the German release that was supposedly pretty bad in its stock form. Nowadays the performance is ok on low/medium settings with the stock game, and reports from OA will follow once I get it. Besides being familiar with the engine since OFP the key to success has been regularily vacuuming the inside of the case, especially all the fans, as those Radeons need a lot of air to stay cool.
