Tough news. Canadian music icon, Gord Downie, lead singer of the Tragically Hip announced yesterday that he has terminal brain cancer. Downie, 52, and Laura Leigh Usher have four children.

There are only half a dozen - if that many - pieces of music that have such a strong, intense emotional impact on me like this one. Well-known, a classic if you want to call it like that - but the whole soundtrack set a standard and redefined the genre, like the movie did, too. To say that after these 30 years this music feels like a part of my own life, biography, personality, is not exaggerated. Vangelis outdid himself with this soundtrack album.
