That did work a lot better.

So I redid the Helicopter training, got through the transport part fine, and then moved onto the attack part. ON the way to the objectives I decide to save just in case. When the game unpauses from saving I fly into a tree. I reload my save and fly into the tree again. I try a second time and still fly into the tree.

On the third time I was able to pull above the tree just barely missing it. I stabilized and saved in hover. I get through the attack training without a problem. Land the helicopter down perfectly and then choose the Emergency Landing training.

I hear Maddock telling me what I'll need to do, so I think okay this sounds easy. I hear the engine's losing power and gently push the nose down. I end up pushing it too far down and slamming face first into the ground dying. Ooopss...

I reload my save.... Oh crap. Its back before I finished the Attack training. . Not feeling like doing it again I quit and choose the VTOL aircraft training. I follow the instructions and hover off the ground a little bit, I'm trying to nudge the controls slightly like I was told. All's going well...
...and then I start to loose control and grind across the floor. I smack into a parked helicopter, then grind across the floor some more.

Eventually I end up accidentally flying into a hangar where another VTOL is parked. I hit the VTOL and we both explode.

Well I say, that's enough for one night.

I haven't figured this one out either. As far as I know what you describe is how it's supposed to be, but it really isn't that convenient and I haven't seen anyone find a way around it yet.

That sucks. You think they would of released a patch to get it to work properly.

I guess if you set up a gameprofile for your joystick you may be able to get it to work properly.

The problem is that a chopper has 3 extreme points on the throttle (-100%, 0%, +100%), that's why the control is like it is. You really cant take any of the three out or you wouldnt be able to fly properly.

Practise with it in the editor and you get a hang of it and you start to like it as you can do some quite cool stuff with having all three points easily controlled with the throttle on your joystick.

with wittering part 12 *sigh*

@bishop

Yeah, I agree with you. They have added some things and fixed some old bugs, but there's still so many issues that were present there in the original OFP already.

I was in a game shop today (not to get SH5!) and they had a huge wall with top 10 pc sellers, and on #1 was Arma2! What the ...? I would think it was a prank or something, but each number had say 6-7 boxes of the same game. Getting rid of stock?

I'm still dying for some information on the expansion pack, so is everybody else on the official ArmA 2 forums. I guess for the moment we only have user-made videos and addons to keep us company.

For the meantime, enjoy a video:

The shop I frequent ran out of stock have to look elsewhere, will try to find the game in the other shop that I know. I'm already liking Dragon Rising which many seem to hate but I'm interested in ARMA 2 too. I just hope the multi player community is well alive and kicking. Multi player is the biggest reason I want to buy this kind of game.

If I can't find it I may have to fetch arrowhead (skipping ARMA 2) when it comes out in July instead.
