Allman Brothers, live at the Filmore East is widely regarded as one of the very best live albums ever to be recorded. Stormy Monday was originally recorded by T-Bone Walker but this is an excellent rendition of this song. The guitar playing interplay between Duane Allman and Dickey Betts is great and something that few modern artists can even aspire to. In fact, the entire album is fantastic, showing you can play slow and with passion and still get your message across. Other live albums that are in the same category would include Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band-live.
This live session was recorded over a 3 day span in New York in 1971. Sadly, guitarist and founding member Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle crash a few weeks after this live album was recorded. Last edited by Commander Wallace; 02-08-20 at 09:51 AM. |

As mentioned earlier, Bob Seger and live Bullet is another great live album.
This is Travelin' man. Few songs are better live but this rendition is the one of the most requested from Bob's works. |

Strange contrast to the green berets. Well, at least Hayduke was one.

You are hardly old, catfish. You just have great taste in music and the medium on which it's played. I have Bob Seger, live Bullet on vinyl and a CD. I bought the Allman brothers album CD many moons ago.
Most Cd burners have software incorporated into them to remove anomalies such as scratches from playing the record album too many times. Unfortunately, the software does it's job too well and as a result, the software also removes subtle overtones that were mixed in by an engineer at the time of recording. The result is most of the music converted to a CD or memory stick format has a " sterile " sound to it. I still collect old vinyl albums Catfish. I know you like Bad company, Catfish. This is a fun song from them, from the archives. " Young Blood." ~ Enjoy~ Last edited by Commander Wallace; 02-09-20 at 01:51 PM. |
