The shield has great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enables it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It is virtually indestructible: it is resistant to penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic spectrum of radiation. The only way it can be damaged in any way is by tampering with its molecular bonding.
I absolutely love comic book BS.

I'm more of a DC fan than Marvel, but it's my understanding that at some point during or after the war Cap was put into some kind of stasis, and revived in modern times.

[edit] I did a little checking and found that Cap was frozen in the arctic ice for a bunch of years before being revived. More comics BS, but all in good fun.

Ahem... it's Adamantium. Same stuff that was bonded to Wolverine's skeleton.

Okay, that'll do, woudn't want to have any completely ridiculous and unbelievable holes in the plot.

Hey, I just quoted the other guy. Since when is it my job to go around correcting people?

Did you know that in the original Action Comics #1 they tried to justify Superman's abilities with references to ants and grasshoppers? It's true.

Btw, the guys in the battle-suits behind Cap are agents of HYDRA, henchmen of Red Skull (Hugo Weaving). In the trailer, they're using arm-mounted flamethrowers on Cap.

Re Vibranium, what I read says that it was never duplicated, but an attempt at reverse-engineering it resulted in Adamantium. (And I'm not even a comic book geek!)

Interesting side-note: Nick Fury was also originally a WW2 character -- but I don't see him in the cast for this movie. Maybe they'll surprise us at the end or something.

I remember those. "Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos"

Talk about suspension of disbelief! I've seen them jump from planes without parachutes. and survive by, get this, grabbing telephone wires at the last second. Well the English guy would use his "bumpershoot" , but that was only one of it's many uses.

But i was a DC comics kid Sgt Rock and Easy Company, the Haunted Tank and Weird War Tales.

Anyone else, besides me, read the comic called "weird" from the 1960's.

It was a deeply disturbing comic and probably explains a lot about my personality and my relationships with humans.

It never had a big following and probably for good reason.

I think marvel are trying to set up for an Avengers movies. They've had Nick Fury in Iron Man 1 & 2, and had Tony Stark make a cameo in the latest Hulk (Edward Norton playing Hulk btw, is fairly cool)

Thor was revealed at the end of Iron Man 2 and Cap's been in the works for a while now. Should check if Samuel L Jackson's been tapped for the role in Thor and CA. And the new Spiderman too.

You think? Does that mean you missed all the announcements they've made that that is exactly what they're doing?

I remember those. Yeah you're right they were kind of disturbing as I recall.

Yay, it was good! The editing was a little choppy at times, but I enjoyed it. Tommy Lee Jones had some realy great lines, but the best line was delivered by a kid.

Superman debuted in Action Comics in 1938, and Batman in Detective Comics in 1939. Wonder Woman came along in 1940. Superman had his screen debut in a cartoon in 1941. I'm currently watching a Batman live-action serial from 1943.

This was one of the better movies I have ever seen. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. (The kids line was great)
