I'm more of a DC fan than Marvel, but it's my understanding that at some point during or after the war Cap was put into some kind of stasis, and revived in modern times.

I did a little checking and found that Cap was frozen in the arctic ice for a bunch of years before being revived. More comics BS, but all in good fun.

Okay, that'll do, woudn't want to have any completely ridiculous and unbelievable holes in the plot.
