I think it is because Ubi does indeed look at this site, and having posts about cracks would not put Sub sim on their good side.

Now saying that, Ubi really should have heeded the anti DRM posts.

This is disastrous, there is no other way to say it. Ubi may have torpedoed the only good subsim franchise out there.

They may well have torpedoed themselves in the process, after all, this isn't the only game which will use the dreaded Ucan'tplay.

It's called OSP.

Uplay is a different... uh, 'service'.

Ubisoft, if you are doing this idiotic 24/7 internet required DRM ****. KEEP THOSE ******* SERVERS RUNNING!!

What copyright protection will be in the next Silent Hunter? Propably you have to take blood tests always before playing and send it to UBI via including revolutionary fax machine. Then when you get confirmation to play you have to idenify yourself with iris scanner and fingerprint, then you are allowed to play, but you need also 24/7 internet connection and pray that the servers are running. And they will not sell SH anymore on retailers. You have to travel to ubisoft headquarters and they will take your blood, iris and fingerprints for future identification. Only after that you can buy the game from the lobby. You get also a bottle of soda for your trouble...

If Ubisoft decided to sell the game through Steam, I think most people wouldn't have a problem with that.

Color me skeptical but I don't believe the hacker excuse. Maybe their server were overloaded by legitimate users trying to play the game. Most hackers would only have interest in proving that DRM can be circumvented, which is exactly what happened.

I'm not sure what you mean. Should UBI have released the game in a state that would have allowed pirated copies?

Whilst always-on DRM is not an ideal solution, I don't resent UBI for trying to protect their business.

If the DDOS stories are true, well, I suspect that is less a story of 'DRM protest' and more a case of script kiddies venting their anger that they are not allowed to steal and distribute the product.

all I know

is that if I'm trying to play the game with my copy, while my father uses his... it seems that the authentication server goes mad.

I still have to try again, but if it's going like this they've got to be kidding me.
