My intentions are the same as before, until this online requirement is scrapped, I will stick with SH4 + UBM + Mods. However you try to dress it up, this DRM is an affront to PC gamers and the sub-simmer community as a whole.

I really want to like this game, and while I have a few worries about what this game is really going to play like, they would not have stopped me from trying it and maybe even liking it. However, the DRM prevents me from being able to buy it in the first place.

So intentions remain the same: I won't be purchasing it and the game will remain one I wish I could have tried.

I'm in the same boat as Schultzy: the always-on Internet connection DRM won't work for me, so adios, SHV -- that's another lost sale, Ubisoft!

I dont care about that DRM. I use to play online games most of the times and are used to it.
I also have broadband connection that let me stay online 24h.

So i look forward to a new release of SH.

If it was just Ubi's console ports I could live without them. I'm sure Assassin's Creed 2 and newest Splinter Cell will be good games, but I could manage to boycott them. I did it with Modern Warfare 2 afterall. The problem is that Ubi is releasing Silent Hunter and Settlers 7 in march and they own Heroes of Might and magic and Anno IPs. Those are some of my favorite franchises of all time, not to mention that they also own Massive Entertainmet, one of best strategy genre developers around. As much as I hate the new DRM scheme I just could imagine missing out an all those games. I've played around with early SH5 versions for previews I was writing and yes, the system was annoying, but more on principles alone, than actual downraged user experience.
So I will just grind my teeth and live with it.

Im starting to lean towards buying SH5. If Neal's review is favorable, then i will give Ubi and thier OSP the benefit of the doubt.

IF the OSP proves to be troublesome then Ubi will lose my custom until OSP is no longer used. BUT if it works then Ubi will have my surport.

Im sure SH5 is not perfect and it was never going to please everyone. But during the last week, the more I see (thanks for the vids Neal.), the more I read (thx everyone for your info) and with the promise from the devs that this is gonna be easier to mod than previous Silent Hunters, Then i think SH5 will be bought and played by me.

My opinion hasn't changed really, if I can play it without the DRM/OSP (don't care how) I will purchase it!

The more I read about DRM/OSP/Uplay, the worse this bothersome system appears to me. Ubi is not getting any money from me unless they get rid of this infection.

UbiSoft has passed crush depth. Clearly the people making decisions there would be seriously challenged in a game of "Find Your Foot". I'm not buying anything they publish so long as this idiotic DRM requirement is forced on the customers. This applies to any other publisher trying to pull this stunt off as well (such as Take Two).

I haven't changed my mind.
Without the OSP/U-P(L)ay I would buy the game asap.
So let's sit and play SH3 while waiting for the big SH5 patch

I hate DRM. I believe DRM only punishes the buyer, not the pirate. It always has been the case. The same with DVD movies with all the darn previews, trailers and warnings which are pointless because only the legitimate buyer sees them.

However, the issue is that I want to play these DRM games, so I am forced to suffer DRM or not play these great games.

The Pirates almost always bring out their DRM-Free games before the game stores bring out the legitimate versions, and I'd be surprised if this new DRM changes that. So again, the legitimate buyers will suffer later release dates, and pay for DRM that makes the game experience less enjoyable, while the Pirates simply enjoy the game.

Doesnt make a lot of sense to me and seems more like encouragement to Pirate.
