And you're aware that you've swallowed this "everyman, Joe the plumber" shtick hook, line and sinker? He's a tool, a piece of political propaganda. It's an act, and his spotlight grabbing has proven that he's more interested in himself than being a representative of the working class.

What exactly is your point? He shouldnt be allowed to work anymore? Or try to put himself into, what he might consideres a good position and income?

Be careful what you say in the glaring eye of the public press...

That is all.

Um, he can be both. Surprisingly. Shockingly.

Hilarious comeback, though.

Your boy McCain is the one who made him a political sideshow. Funny how it's all fine well and good to do that, but as soon as anyone criticizes the sideshow, or even the fact that the sideshow exists, they become the bad guy.

In case you haven't heard McCain lost the election a couple months ago so it's your side who is perpetuating the "sideshow" now at the expense of fellow human being. Does that make you feel like a big man to do that?

If you choose to make yourself a public figure, don't be surprised when you face public criticism.

And yes, it makes me feel like a big man to use my freedom of expression to point out the silliness of the political game they all play. It makes me feel STRONG LIKE BULL!

So asking a candidate a question is choosing to make yourself a public figure?

You're not pointing out anything but how eager your party is to disenfranchise the public. I saw the Republicans do the same thing after the 2004 election and look how it turned out for them.

Strange... I would have thought after all the "Joe the Plumber" publicity, he could have easily built a plumbing empire...sort of like Roto-Rooter.

No, but giving interviews to Katie Couric, holding pressing conferences, guest spots on Fox News and Good Morning America, pimping your new book and now becoming a television journalist does.

He's not the public. He's a cardboard stand up character.

I think some people have confused the order in which things have happened.

First, Joe asked a candidate a question. Then, a CAMPAIGN used Joe the Plumber as essentially a tag line. THEN, the Democrats sought out to destroy Joe the Plumber. THEN, Joe decided to use his newfound fame for personal gain.

Joe the Plumber didn't seek out the spotlight - he was thrust into it.

You left out one step, IMO, and that was the candidate's answer to the question. If "the candidate" had not uttered the words "spread the wealth", then perhaps the Democratic party would have used the film to it's advantage. Joe didn't make himself a celebrity, the "chosen one" did, and we should all give "thanks" to him for it.

No it was not, thats what made it so sweet. Here this everyday Joe asked in a 'off the cuff' manner the questions that were being purposuly avoided by the media.

So the expected result was a media blitz to tear down Joe's charecter and divert attention from the real issue.

Heh... Rush had a good idea.. Send Palin along with him :p that should get the presses rolling !
