Also i use a copyto and moveto reg add-on also saves time etc and also goes on right mouse click option (again it works in xp or vista x86 versions)

Werner, I did not know Wordpad left invisible text. I will use notepad from now on. Do you edit the airstrike.cfg file in the main SH4 file, or under the TM1.7.6 airstrike.cfg file. There are two of them. Thanks for the insight.

Defiance, how do you load or install the above file in Win XP Pro. I opened it up, and it looks pretty simple, but was not sure how to install it. Thanks

I will assume you have no other mod besides TM that changes airstrike.cfg. In this case, if you have activated TM with JSGME, the file in main SH4 directory will be the same as the one from TM.
Unless you know what you're doing, you ALWAYS disable the mod that makes changes to the file you want to work on, make your own changes, and then re-enable the mod. It's common sense to make a backup of the file you want to make changes on, just in case something goes bad.

Hiya's,
Dutchman 51, If it's showing the reg icon like a rubiks cube with three chunks coming off it you just double click it wherever you saved it too and it will prompt to install into the reg, You will get a warning (as with any registry entries) then on accepting 2nd prompt it will install

I have used this since xp first came out and last year i found it works fine in x86 version of vista maybe x64 version too but i'm not sure but don't see why not

The copyto/moveto is also a time saver

These 2 reg files i couldn't do without and are always the first things i install whenever i format and freshly install windows

To see the icon i mean if your using xp goto start then run and type in regedit, When regedit opens the icon shows on it in the top left corner

If using vista you have to enable the run command option in the start menu options then do the same start/run n type regedit

There are loads of clever reg tweaks, I just threw these two up as they are my most used ones

Hope that helps

Have fun

Ciao

Default night AC attacks

I have change the cfg while in port and still the night attacks persist.
They seem to taper off at first but when I end the game (not the career) after I changed the cfg file and then come back later to resume the campaign, the night attacks get crazy fast.

aarrgghhh this is really detracting from my enjoyment of the game, I have tried both ParaB's aircraft.cfg fix and created my own (copied Duci's air.cfg from TM 1.7.6 and altered the night modifier down to 0.01 as suggested and enabled as a seperate mod in JSGME) and yes, did it while in port and it makes no difference, not one ship sighting just constant around the clock airstrikes. If I wanted to shoot down aircraft all the time i would reinstall IL2 Pacific Fighters . I hope someone with a little more experience in the guts of the game can come up with a fix for this or I will have to go back and start playing COD4 again....God forbid

I've been haveing the same prob. recently to some extent. It's June'43, and I'm patroling the Bismark Sea near Rabaul. I 'm useing ROW, RFB, and RSRD p3. I have been attacked several times now in the black of night. What I did that seemed to to stop it, was to turn my radar off, only makeing one single sweep per hour. I'm not sure if Japanese AC were equipped with radar, or radar detecting equipment at this point in the war, but this seemed to solve my continuous attacks at night.

Edit: Was just attacked again despite haveing radar off. So much for that theory.

I have tried everything from changing the config file, shutting down the radar, I even left it off the whole night, still alot of planes. It didnt start until I uploaded the last version of TM 1.7.6 I think after this current patrol I am going back to TM 1.7.5 or use another mod. I hate to do this with such a GREAT MOD, but it's really a PAIN to get attacked all night long.

Hiya's,
Well after a long think i did this

Deleted My docs sh4 folder (yes lost saves etc but what the heck)

With jsgme i disabled all mods and then deleted tm part 1

I then notepadded this into the air cfg Night Modifier=0.00 within tm part 1 and reloaded it into jsgme then re-enabled all mods

Started a new career fast and furious to test settings

Now on my 2nd patrol just cruising off japan anyways no attacks at night

Had one as dusk was setting in but not a thing once darkness falls

Hope this helps

Ciao

Def

ps: If any night attacks occur i will post back

OK, bit the bullet, cleared the saves, uninstalled mods, fixed Duci's airstrike cfg to 0.0, reenabled all mods in correct order, started a new career Dec 7th 1941 outta Manila in USS Searaven....... NO MORE NIGHT ATTACKS! I had one solitary attack at 20:00 hours just off Formosa on December 14th but after that, no night attacks at all, patrol ended 27th December at Suribaya with 2 x 10,000 ton Large Tankers under my belt, very happy camper now!

Guess I'll have to change my Sig again now......

Important Note:

If you are running Vista and you SH4 is installed under C:\Program Files, make sure to right-click notepad.exe and select "run as administrator...". Just like JSGME, running a non-elevated program that attempts to write a file under C:\Program Files won't work as expected.

I'm not so sure the answer lies in altering the TM config., although mabey for those useing it , it's a fix. I get the same thing, and I'm not using TM, I use RFB. Did RFB alter these files as well? I also use RSRD. Is everyone using this too? That may be the common denominator.
