I lost so many U-Boats I had to take a break while the shipyards caught up with me. Well what do you expect when I mainly play in 43/44.

Is this a record for the oldest post being ressurected from the dead?

But it was a good thread, I like this one:

Be serious, I'm in my first attempt in DiD(6th campagn...), now in the second mission and hope still alive long time again.

I play all my sims DiD and full realistic. It is the only way to learn - making errors and getting penalized (just like RL). I put a new Type V11B out to sea this week and hope the next skipper Steinner and crew is proficient - they trained with Rott in war games. I lost Rott and boat when he was at 47,000 tons and got cocky on his 6th patrol. Steinner is at 45,000 tons on his first patrol. Same early year - different dates. Striker is ready for his shakedown and is out to catch up with Steinner.

I play DiD, and enjoy the extra challenges it brings, teaches one to not get too greedy, and to plan out their moves in advance. Puts

Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that this thread here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there's usually only one thing you can do.

I play DID, when I screw up and my name is plastered in the ward room with the words "An Embarrassment". I start a new career which it is the way is should be after you have become a seasoned skipper. The only thing I don't do yet is have limited fuel or compress air. I havent got the skill yet to do that. One of the these days I will give it a shot.

I used to, but I haven't been playing SH3 much lately.

I could make around 10-15 patrols without going down. The things that always got me in the end were the planes with depth charges. Being stubborn, I'd have men man the flak gun and shoot at them, only to miss and then go down quite quickly (finally being destroyed by the pressure).

I play DiD with some skippers and reload others, depending on circumstances. The way I get sunk is mostly playing on beyond the point when I'm tired (I'll just sink this last DD and then go to bed...yeah, right!). First time you yawn, save & quit.

Commanders didn't have that option in real life.

Playing tired gives you a slight crack into which you can peer into the real problems of being a submarine commander, from a safe distance of course.

Is that a feasible approach in SH3? Do many play this way? How hard is it to make it through, say, a patrol? A year?

For those of you who play this way, how is your play different than if you weren't playing this way? Sure, I expect you're more cautious, but _how_ more cautious?

I'm really looking for tips on playing to sink ships AND survive.
I play this way.Of all the mods that may make this game more realistic what could be more realistic than being killed for real?
Unless of course you have a witch doctor on board and he manages to revive you from the dead.
And yes,I for one get a more profound sense of danger playing this way as it keeps you on your toes.
