I agree with all that has been stated and truthfully it don't mean $&#*.

In case you haven't noticed the watch word of the world is GREED. Hell, we don't even make anything in our country anymore so don't give me Crapo Maryland (it is a place) about quality.

If Ubi needed us, then we would have gotten a better product, but they don't.

I believe the Dev team did the best with what they had and the Big Boys pushed the buttons. However, if we had of just laid down and said "Oh well, its just a game." Nothing, I mean nothing would have been done. It is my opinion Sub sims are dead. They are not fast enough for the money generation - you know the ones with the 15 second attention span. I do not believe I will ever see another WW2 subsim in my life time.

I am glad that the person who started this thread had the balls to state what he felt. I am glad that expressing one's opinion is still allowed on the forum. HOWEVER, "Is this it?" Yep, that's all there is, there aint no more. So get on with it, Get over it, Do what you gotta do man. My bets is on the Modders from here on out.

Well, the thing worked fine before Vista.

I guess my point is that I've had alot more problems getting Vista to work than I ever have had with SH4... and I've never really had any problems to speak of with the five or six Dells I've owned.

Default It worked for me

I'm running a Gateway GM5420 running Windows Vista Home Premium. Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 gigs ram with a Sigmatel sound card. It's stock like it came out of the box except for the video card. After I put in a Ge Force 7950 GT and turned off that stupid User Account Control, the game worked. I also deleted the factory video driver and installed version 7.15.11.5818 of 4/12/2007 straight from Nvidia. I had to call them on the phone and speak to a real human being. I had all the bugs that came with the game and I was playing. I never had see through crewmen or ships floating in air, etc. I had some CTD's but they went away after 1.2 came out. also I changed some graphic settings The radar was probably the biggest bug of all IMHO but that seems to be fixed. Also the enemy is much more likely to sink the sub now. I'm not a computer expert by a long shot but I'm not having the problems you seem to be having! Sorry you've had a bad experience cause this is a very good simulation and I think it's gonna get better. I'm still hoping we get the bathothermometer, but I can live with what we have now. Of course this is just from my experience with SH4. Good Luck!

Agreed. Most have been played out. We might see improvements in game play or graphics but the story remains the same.

NO El, we are not. I love the game, and I think that most of the 'silent majority' do also.

Thanks for 1.3.

Man, come up to the USS Torsk!!! I'm there every Saturday morning. 0700-1200. I help restore and maintain the Torsk. You just might want to volunteer also. You can get the full tour from me as well!

What I meant by freezing is...no further development of a particular title such as SH4. I don't get why the source code has to be locked up in a vault when there are plenty of people here who would be happy to make some sort of legal arrangement to continue improvements and even not get paid for it. All they need is a binding contract. I'm sure this could be done with minimal effort and suspect nobody has thought about it seriously enough to be realized.

To me, this is the best news I heard in a long while here. And coming from the right person. Thanks a lot for it, Dan!

I've been on the Torsk several years ago (just checked the website). Funny...it was built in Portsmouth, NH which is where I grew up. You can take a tour of the Albacore if you ever go up there.

By the way, I was lucky to get a full tour of the SSBN Ohio back in 94 while visiting family in Seattle. Also got to see the Florida in dry dock while I was there. 9 Stories high from keel to sail and three football fields long.

The solution here is to stop buying software from a company once it's known they will release incomplete products to the public. Make them accountable or this will only get worse.

What? Yet another "boycot Ubi" post?

How about setting an example. I see YOU bought the product. :hmm:

I would never attempt to review a game I've never played.

I like SH4. It has flaws but it's entertaining. Too bad you'll never find that out.

Good luck with your protest\boycott\petition or whatever it is you are doing.

Is that the boat on display in Baltimore on the waterfront? I went through it years ago and forgot the name. I'd like to take you up on your offer.

Thats the one...USS Torsk. Let me know if you can come on up one weekend! Get to see all the goodies found in the game up close and personal
