Default I just saw U-505 exhibit.

If someone would give a hint to this dumba$$, I'd be more then happy to post some of my mediocre shots. Have to say the experience was chilling. Got them on my easyshare folder. No interior though.

Welcome aboard, 1480!

There is an official website, with pictures and a virtual tour, but I'd still love to see yours, and hear your own perceptions.

I visited U-505...in 1962.

I was in quiet awe. The last time I saw it was in 1979. I'll progress with my observations as I post pics:[/IMG]

While waiting in line to get inside, one of the guides gave a background to it's new location: a 4 million dollar wing of it's own, that is a memorial to the US naval forces during WWII. In a sense, the centerpiece of a mantle or trophy case.

Nice On Google Earth I was looking at Breverhaven, you can see a Type XXI that is on display there.

For those that have not used Google Earth, great little program for seeing the world. In the larger centres\cities, the detail level is pretty amazing.

You lucky bugger!

I'm trying to get to Chicago for work in the next few months, and this is definitely something I want to see.

I will be there 28th of june.. I will be on my way to Vasteras "Power Big meet" classic car show in Sweden. For that I have to take the ferry from Kiel to Goteborg. When I am that close I cannot skip a tour around U-995.

afcourse pictures will follow !

Figure I would show one of the top prizes of the capture, one of two Enigma machines that are on display.[/IMG] I'm lousy with the camera....

There's a VIIC at Kiel, or at least, there used to be. I walked through it 20 years ago.
